I like to point out, whenever it's relevant, that there was a massive terrorist attack the day we pulled out of Afghanistan to haphazardly end the "war on terror".
A war that lasts for twenty years is a humanitarian nightmare. Twenty years of killing civilians & radicalizing their family members.

That was on Monday. I’m still flummoxed that he chose to double-down on Friday by writing a whole column-length subtweet of the episode.

I mean, I know a guy who got drafted into Nam, had some sort of desk job in Vietnam, and completed service with a VA claim related to an eye injury received from rubber band flung during office horseplay. So, in this regard Bret Stephens can also claim rights to "Fortunate Son" in his flashbacks.
