No lie, I will happily give up all of the things I miss from the US in order to still have access to all the bounty that Mexico offers me. This is bonkers.
I thought during the threat of the last tariffs about things I should stock up on. I got canned tomato, tons of coffee and paper. Totally forgot tequila.,
This is true! In fact if you want fruit right away splicing is the surest way. If you plant just one it normally will fruit in about 7-8 years or maybe never.
Got lots of eggs in Canada, and nice avocados from Mexico and Central America. Grapes from Chile and Peru, Canadian greenhouses now ramping up citrus fruit and greens. Got lots of garden space, life is good.
A couple of the Western Provinces are led by morons, but Federally we are fine, for now anyway. Canadians have been buying Canadian and from other friendly countries for some time now, but now more than ever. It started the first time tRump got in and started his tariff BS.
If it makes you feel any better, you just missed the 8-minute period of time in which the avocados from that tree would have been perfectly ripe. They'd be all brown and mushy now.
Fun fact! Avocados dont ripen on the tree. They have to be picked. They can sit on the tree almost indefinitely and be picked as needed. Of course, you'll still miss the 30 second window of ripeness while it sits on your counter after being picked 😂

(And I always as friends if they have any available from their trees.)
I sold my avocado sapling two years ago. Darn.
We can do it if we just pollute enough.
