I think complaining about musicals and musical theater fans and their love of musicals is boring and tedious. You don't have to like things you don't like, but also go away.

I have never understood why people have such a searing hatred of musicals... And especially why they don't seem to understand how songs work in-universe... Like, when I was a kid I was able to understand that songs are metaphorical representations of the events narrated.
Super fucking excited for Wicked. Will restrain myself from singing in the theater, but only because I am generally one of the people who would enjoy people shutting the fuck up at the movies.
I will probably shush my wife and daughter when we go see it (probably tomorrow) but I’m not familiar with the soundtrack like they are. Loved the books, though.
The amount of time I have spent bonding with my 11 year old daughter over the Ballad of Sweeney Todd and why on earth it was not part of the movie adaptation...
When I saw Wicked on Broadway, there was a little slip in the Playbill reminding the audience that we all had paid to hear the performers sing and to please refrain. For me, holds true at the movies too.
I am not a theater person, but have a daughter who is. I’m actually interested in seeing this, but I’m not signing up for the f*cking ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show.’
My wife loves musicals. I try but I'm a lost cause. I just go and shut up. But, over years, I have developed a spot for them. So...maybe there is hope🙄
Musicals are not my thing, but see no reason to shit on people who like them. It’s not like you guys are mayonnaise lovers or something sick like that.
I could never afford to see Wicked so it’s not just anything I am interested in. And I get a lot of hate from people who think I’m betraying my theatre background. Like not everyone is going to like every musical!
I’ve been listening to my Broadway playlist all morning while cooking, reminiscing about how many different shows I’ve seen over the years. It never gets old. I’m thrilled to see musicals like Wicked receive much deserved recognition.
Getting to know you, getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you, getting to hope you like me.
Getting to know you, putting it my way,
But nicely,
You are precisely,
My cup of tea!
(I love a musical, me. Can't say that I've seen one newer than Cats or the Phantom)
Yeah I know. You can dislike it, but please shut the fuck up about it and let us enjoy our musicals in peace. Like come on what other type of media is it expected for others to loudly shit on it constantly.
I think those not knowing how to behave in public should stay away from everyone else. Unless it's expressly allowed, you don't make noise during a screening.
People should let people like what they like. Do I particularly like musicals? No. (Except Les Mis, which I ADORE). But my 55+ year-old self will be at the next BTS tour. Don’t even care who likes it. Not even a little bit. 😁
THIS. I do not usually enjoy the genre. But my son is a musical theater student, and I respect the talent of him and his peers. And I never miss a show.
I accompanied my wife to a performance of A Chorus Line a few years back. I remember thinking “a musical about a musical…so a form of art I hate about a form of art I hate.”
But I was blown away by it. I think more people could find a way in by finding the right one for them.

I'm a percussionist; are you going to approve my use of seats, cups, and popcorn buckets as an impromptu drumset?
The way they do it in the movie will do it. It's an excellent film.
I restrained my singing, but possible the family may go to one of the special sing-along performances next month.
play here in the uk
In the words of the great sage and eminent scholar Tim Minchin: "Be pro-stuff, not just anti-stuff".
If they really loved it they’d take singing lessons.
