"Cotler was in Geneva for a United Nations anti-racism conference on April 20 where Ahmadinejad launched into a diatribe against Israel, calling it a “totally racist government in occupied Palestine.”
Ahmadinejad was correct. Saying that is not incitement to Genocide. Israel is genocidal.
Do you know i watched a rescue worker pick up a dead fetus, about 5 months old, blown out of its mother's womb, in their house, by an Israeli missile. I've seen bags of children's body parts sorted by weight, shredded by an Israeli bomb.
I've seen Israeli soldiers dressing in dead women's lingerie.
“Jewish presence in what are now Arab lands long predates Islam and the Arab conquest of the Middle East and North Africa, and goes back to Biblical times. In 1945, there were approximately 866,000 Jews living in communities throughout the Arab world. Today, there are fewer than 10,000.” WJC
I'm tempted to say that I've never been as disappointed in any institution as I have been in the colleges and universities trying to appease AIPAC and American fascism.
My guess is they’d get in trouble for doing the ‘holding up a piece of blank paper’ next. Or talking about Palestine amongst themselves in their dorm rooms. Or publishing things online expressing their thoughts about these issues. Because the point is to make even the ideas they have seem risky.
Harvard is terrified of the jerk donors who give them money that should have been paid in taxes. The puppets 'in charge' of universities are bought and paid for like politicians. All this is enabled by tax dodging laws.
Somebody explain this to me because I admittedly do not know how money works. I THOUGHT that the 1 billion dollar Harvard endowment was what the rappers call "Fuck you" money. I THOUGHT that meant that
when moneyed alumni come to the Provost office talking about "If you don't call out these protesting students as anti semitic I and my AIPAC friends won't donate another dime!" the provost could look up
the endowment portfolie, see how well it was doing and reply "This institution protected academic freedom and speech freedom before you were born and it will be protecting both after you die. Good bye sir and good day." I thought having money gave you the freedom to NOT have to bow to the demands of
people just because they have money. Clearly that is NOT how money works. So somebody educate me on what is really going on. What is that endowment actually for?
But if your wealth and status is tied up in how many high profile graduates your institution turns out, it would seem to me that running the school how you want to run it without outside rich ppl interference would be in your interest.
A lot of endowment money is tied up in donations for very specific things. I mean yes, it's also for capitalism, but the university can't just spend those dollars anyway it chooses.
I don't get why Harvard isn't just expelling ringleaders; the demands are explicitly pro-Hamas (e.g. they recurrently express support for 7.10) and people in the movement are periodically caught engaging in physical violence against visibly Jewish students.
Okay, Israel is not representative of all Jewish people; and yet student protesters demand the shutdown of Hillel, attack students who wear yarmulkes, and (not at Harvard but more in Canada) protest synagogues and hospitals named Mount Sinai.
The pro-Israel demands are not "close down the Muslim Students' Association" or "ban Palestinian students," so no, they are to *hug* pro-Israel students and deepen their ties with Israeli universities while also expelling people who call for banning Hillel.
They're engaging in physical violence against visibly Jewish students; at Columbia, the campus building occupation involved detaining janitors, and one of the demands may be actionable material support for terrorism (IIRC releasing a prisoner convicted of Hamas terrorism).
The pager attack was pretty good at that. 34 dead Hezbollah, 3 dead noncombatants, at last count?
(Quite a lot of serious criticism of the IDF, i.e. not what Western Palestine advocates do, points out that the IDF can be precise when it wants to, it just chooses indiscriminate tactics in Gaza.)
No, I'm calling for expulsions of the leaders (who are the ones committing the worst violence, e.g. the "Zionists don't deserve to live" guy at Columbia); the rest will learn to wear yellow ribbons and work with hostage families if they want to call for a ceasefire.
I have no interest in "wearing a yellow ribbon". I am interested in doing everything in my power to get the US (as well as the US Jewish community) to cut off the genocidal ethnostate that Israel has become.
Also, can we just stop and make it clear how Orwellian "the rest will learn" sounds. Like, do you really think that anyone who goes beyond "we need a ceasefire to bring the hostages home and eventually to get a 'two entity' solution" should be treated as beyond the pale.
No, I'm saying Harvard students were committing acts of physical violence at Harvard, such as beating up a Jewish student on camera; the perpetrator was a law student, IIRC on the law review.
The Harvard “die-in” at which the assault occurred was organized by the Harvard Undergraduate Palestine Solidarity Committee and Graduate Students 4 Palestine. The silent protest is organized by a different group, Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine.
Harvard is a private institution, so free speech doesn’t apply here as it’s not a government institution. But a silent protest in the library; as long as other students were still able to use it, yeah, shouldn’t be a problem. If they were blocking other students who paid to use the library, nah.

Out of that abomination has come this genocide
Who built all those nice traditional homes that Jews from Pittsburgh were given?
Israel, otoh, is deliberately killing the Palestinians. And boasting about it all over social media.
They think that if they say it in Hebrew noone will know.
Israel is genocidal.
You seem to think they should not.
Most reasonable people disagree with you.

But then I remembered SCOTUS ---

The donors don't have control of that endowment, and Harvard's endowment is more than large enough to just fund everything without further donations.
Billionaire donors have them hooked up on the supply & will get Harvard to do what they want threatening it won't get its fix

I wouldn't expect a zionist to be smart enough to understand that, though.
