@rokhanna.bsky.social says at the other site that he didn't abstain from the Musk vote. it was hastily called and he simply wasn't there. Elon is sad, apparently.

Thank you. I have one friend dying (at home w/hospice) & another in the intensive care so I am a bit scattered. Its hard to work and keep up with everything else going on.
I was part of his OR team during the last Sanders campaign. Asked him if he would endorse my labor party candidacy back in Croatia (we’ve won five seats). Got crickets from Ro. The minute campaign was over he unfollowed all of us.
Ro, there are likely to be a number of hastily called votes in order to respond to the current (checks notes) coup. On your toes, man! California is watching you.
What's the good thing about @rokhanna.bsky.social? Like how in his history of buddying up to Matt Gaetz or grandstanding against fellow Democrats or offering his complete subjugation to Elon Musk and his doge goons has he ever been helpful to any of the good guys?
That's bullshit. If there were 8 others who were supposed to be there to vote but couldn't make it, they would ALSO be recorded as abstaining the vote.
I do not understand dems that are taking this as business as usual if they're going to call votes with no notice you should be sleeping at your desk ready to do your job and protect the people you represent. I'm sorry but this is ridiculous.
No, the vote absolutely should be called WITHOUT notice; otherwise, the GOP will just defeat it every single time.
Democrats need to be better at planning these things. I'm sure someone can come up with a seemingly random schedule where Democrats will have a temporary substantial majority.
True. Rho should not be asking for "notice," because that's the point of asking for a vote when GOP members are relaxed and leaving to get a nice drink in their office.
Ds did it like this on purpose. If it passes with no Rs there, it’s not enforceable. At least doing it this way SHOWS that Rs are preventing any investigation into what’s happening.
In 2023, Porter announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate, forgoing reelection to the House of Representatives. She was defeated after failing to advance from the nonpartisan primary won by Adam Schiff and Steve Garvey.
@rokhanna.bsky.social : if you serve on an important committee, isn't it your JOB to be there except in case of emergency? Do you think the GOP is going to kindly notify you every time an important vote is called???
@rokhanna.bsky.social has no significant foreign policy powers AFAICT, maybe the Mexican President gave an invitation? Seems like a job for the Democratic Whips to work on…
They can't, they rushed the vote so that they'd have a chance of getting it through without Republicans literally throwing themselves through the windows to vote no.
They have to have a moment when a Republican or two doesn't show up for whatever reason so Dems can outnumber the Republicans on the committee, I believe. They need to be camping out on this.
Oh so Connolly didn't think to maybe call other fucking Democrats first or to do a little head count in the area. It's not like there's 50 people in this committee. This dude should be taking care of his cancer and not failing in this critical moment.
well maybe the Silocon Valley fellator-in-Chief should pay more attention to what HIS OWN Party is doing in Committee....?
- instead of tweeting out pathetic, plaintive appeals to elmo on deadbird site......
The rumors would suggest he has help. Of the chemical variety. (zero personal knowledge of this—I just like a gossip site as an occasional palate cleanser)
Also, he's a prime example of what we say when we say CEOs do nothing to deserve their compensation. They don't work hard. You'll never see a blue or even white collar worker holding down 8 jobs and leading a government coup and tweeting 24/7. There is no time when you actually work, even on meth
I don't buy it, Ro was busy kissing Elon and DOGE ass early on, him being caught off guard is saying he apparently is too busy (doing what exactly) to do his damn job, or is it a convenient excuses to remain close to Musk and the broliacrhs while still cosplaying as someone for the people.
But I think Comer knew and called the vote as quickly as possible directly because he knew people weren't there that would have supported it. Didn't he try to not even debate the motion at all?
Here's my issue regardless, obviously there were enough people there to call the vote, what was Ro doing that he missed it, this should be No. 1 priority and his job, but he just missed it, sorry I don't buy it especially because he has decades long relationship with Musk.
I can agree with all that and still believe that this was a calculated move by the Repubs to prevent people who would have voted yes from being there. It's not a defense of the accomplices, it's recognizing that Comer called the snap vote on purpose. These members should act accordingly now
I understand that, I just think Dems should have been prepared, especially someone like Ro for this, camp out in the chambers if that is what it takes, just saying oh they got me cause I wasn't paying attention is a weak ass excuse and based on his past fawning of Musk, I am leery of it being legit
I actually think he's probably being honest - a lot of people thought that what Musk was going to do would be "outside board reviews financial statement printouts" and not "Elon Musk now controls the entire government software system"
That's just super weird. I'll never understand people like Musk. Like, is he a supervillain or not? How can he be wounded that people say mean things lol? Trump's the same way. People are nicer to you if you DON'T go around saying everyone else is evil and/or incompetent!
And why the fuck are they still on that god forsaken website? Jesus christ these people are insane. They give Elon's sight legitimacy & revenue & create a greater network effect which helps keep other people on that platform who may otherwise leave if more public figures weren't there.
The fact @rokhanna.bsky.social ran to *ELONS SITE* specifically to post about “how he’s holding Elon accountable”, tells you everything you need to know. Ro is a fraud.
He knows Elon will just throw a bunch of likes and pro ro comments on his post, to make him look good.
Our country is burning and our elected representatives can't be bothered to show up for vote. This is not politics as usual. Sleep in your office, a friends office, camp the fuck out on the Capitol steps if you have to, but DO YOUR JOB already. FFS
That's what they're doing. Khanna isn't a real Democrat, he's a Musk servant. Musk just tried to remind him of that in public: a mistake on Musk’s part
Boy I sure am glad we picked the 74 year old cancer patient to lead Oversight Dems instead of the young and exciting 35 year old with millions of supporters
"But there is a token progressive on the committee" is a really, really, REALLY bad argument when the other side is literally doing institutionalized racism.
Jasmine Crockett is the one standing every day in front of usaid and treasury and is pushing the olds into an actual opposion position. So do not understimate her.
Thanks for the condescension that you expressed both to me and Rep. Crockett. And clearly you do not know who’s on that committee if you think that Rep. Crockett is the token. Google is your friend.
Just for posterity, he is lying. It was called intentionally without notice to help it pass. Khanna is a liar and should never be trusted again by the committee.
Question. Is there something more important for Ro to do then show up to Congress while a coup is going on? Get to work. These people piddle and tweet but need to be throwing down every day.
Thanks for the background on Khanna, Kim. I saw his tweet earlier but don't know anything about him. 17th CD in CA is Silicon Valley, so no surprise that he & Musk & the Tech Bros have rubbed elbows (that gesture that somehow transfers LOTS of money).

I appreciate your information. It makes sense.
Dems, everything's at stake.
The pathetic "dog ate my homework" excuse provided by Khanna, or the sub-juvenile retort offered by the world's most entitled man
Democrats need to be better at planning these things. I'm sure someone can come up with a seemingly random schedule where Democrats will have a temporary substantial majority.
I hope he’s primaried!
Katie porter get ready!!!
It’s more than what we’re getting from those in Congress now, imho✌️
Hi pot, meet kettle….

He probably doesn't do anything useful with his time.
And call your GOP Congress critters too, everyone
Is this acceptable? We're not playing tiddlywinks over here.

Nobody trusts him.
He knows Elon will just throw a bunch of likes and pro ro comments on his post, to make him look good.
Why would musk be worried?
If it's surprising it must be 1989
Performative theater as usual by the dems.
If they wanted this vote to pass they waited; they did NOT want this vote to pass but they DID want to pretend like they are doing something.
I am sick and tired of D's resting on the job; soon there won't be one for them.
The operative word was "token".
As he occupies federal office buildings with his army of twinks and eliminates thousands of people’s jobs while calling them criminals.
But at least his tweet managed to alienate the Nazi. Silver linings!
"Musk responded to Khanna’s post, writing to him, 'Don’t be a dick.'"
So he tried to duck away and got hit anyway! 🤣
He's an empty suit who needs to be primaried yesterday.
