Well, you don’t learn as much as from nonfiction books. And sometimes the author sucks. John ringo wrote the hot gate a book where aliens kill off lazy and non blonde people with a disease and increases the fertility of the surviving women making them go into a heat cycle.

I would say you learn different types of things and it still works your brain. Like if I jog I'm not learning baseball but I'm still moving my muscles, you know?

At what point did sex become the opposite of reading? Like I remember the Friends joke "R🦕: you didn't read LOTR in high school? J🎭: No I had sex in high school. *laugh track*" And there are a LOT of jokes like that, not just in that era of comedy.
