Sameee! If I’m watching them on YouTube or Twitch I don’t really get scared, but when I decide to play them, I freak out even if I know where is a jumpscare
The most horrifying creature I've ever seen in a video game are the stingers/spiders from Satisfactory. They're so bad that the developers put an option to either cover them up with cat pictures, or remove them from the game entirely.
At least in a game you may not be scared but you acknowledge when a moment is meant to be scary (not to you of course!).
A bit like closed caption that would say "The scene is scary".
I've been wondering if I tried to play Phantasmagoria, if it would have any feelings even at all remotely close to how it made me feel when I was 15. Probably not, lol
oh snap! randomly finding JV on bluesky?! love your work! would love to see a continuation of the story of 'nny and his growth after his time dead. also, relatable.
I don’t play horror games like ever. I got the chance to play Dead Space remake cause of the PS Plus thing. It was terrifying! Eventually got over the horror…mostly. Those devs know how to make atmosphere scary. I slowly creeped around every corner till the end, but I did beat it eventually. 9/10.
I love horror games in theory but am far too much of a puss to play them myself. I stick to movies where I can cower in fear without getting bodied by enemies.

That’s one of many reasons why I switched to the OLED Steam Deck. I’m holding out for the Switch 2 (or whatever it’s called) before I use it again

The jarring reality.
Loading death face.
I am familiar with this concept all to well.
Way more than my face 😂
