AOC can become one of the most powerful people in the country automatically and likely stay one for decades just by chilling in her safe seat for another 10 or so years. Not as good as being president but maybe not everyone wants/needs to be president?

She'll change her tune once she realizes how bereft the rest of the field is next year
To restore checks & balances, we will need both legislative chambers to reclaim their Article One prerogatives - and expand SCOTUS.
And, as sad as it is, she would lose the Presidential race (even if it were lucky enough to be legitimate)
LBJ waited a long time before jumping into the White House
Really it's just too early to think about it. AOC is relevant because she's focused on the immediate danger rather than vague hopes about 2028.
She's a party builder. She inspires and encourages others to run. Bernie doesn't. Pelosi doesn't, at least publicly.
Chair/ranking member of a powerful House committee is a lot of power that's relatively quiet, so there's so many of these people.
Bella Abzug was a nationally prominent US Representative. Her district was fairly safe. In 1976, she chose to run for US Senate from New York and gave up her House seat.
Abzug lost by less than one percent to the more moderate Daniel Patrick Moynihan. She never won an election again.
It's a waste to put young people in the position
But we've got Pritz and a few others
Like it or not, getting elected POTUS as a WOC has long, long odds. Her popularity is not strong away from progressive locales, however.
It's not just maga that is the problem in this regard, we've just seen an example.
Not wanting to be president is a sign of good mental stability.
I assume she knows how and where she can have the most impact.
