Would make a neat flier

People being rude to service workers is a red flag both in needlessly being a dickhead to someone but also in that you can tell they appreciate it when you make their work a little easier and who doesn’t want that shit? That shit feels amazing. A waiter being happy? That shit makes your weekend

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

This is how it’s done.

This is quite significant in many ways: the overt thuggery, Trump’s barely suppressed fury at being contradicted by a woman, the governor’s standing up, the total abandonment of the pretense of federalism, the continuing use of trans Americans the way Hitler used Jews.

A few thoughts: 1. If the evidence, presently fairly, shows he murdered Thompson in cold blood, he should go to jail. Even if you cheer him as a folk hero, a society that lets vigilante murder go unpunished is not a stable or safe one.

The past ten years has just been the same clutch of morons and apologists insisting that Trump would never cross that line and then shuffling along with him to insist that he would never cross that next one.

“Not wavering” under the pressure of the White House actually is an achievement and one that’s worth praising. It’d be nice if other media outlets cared about journalism enough to stand alongside them.

This is a more clear, emphatic, and politically potent bit of messaging than we have gotten from basically any Democratic representative

“I am a king and my will is law” isn’t a clever distraction from what he’s doing, it’s the central underlying justification for everything he’s doing.

when i say that there are people who care less about workers and their rights than they do the primacy of a masculinist blue collar identity politics, i am taking about people like sean o’brien

What truly fills me with despair is how Americans are fine with this — even happy about it, enthused at any degradation of immigrants. Is a Republic made up of such people worth preserving?

History: “Eventually the incompetent fascists invariably lose power and then society recovers in a new and stronger way” Me: “Oh, cool, so what has to happen for the spell to be broken??” History: “mmmm…well, that part is less encouraging.”

Federal workers are already posting direct accounts of their firings on TikTok, garnering viral sympathy and support. Why Dems are not taking advantage of these already public, very personal profiles is indeed baffling, see this thread: www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8YVxTUq/

people say it's bad to assume your enemies are ontologically evil but in my case at least, it's not an assumption so much as a conclusion reached after years of observation and study and has the virtue of being correct.

This is why you fight these cowards. The moment you stand up to them, they crumble. Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights. He can threaten me with jail and call names all he wants. He’s got nothing else.

I ask again: is there any professional with honor left in this country? Why are you running an article asking questions about the electoral impacts of annexing Canada without mentioning that it's illegal, a war crime, that it would lead to death, suffering, destruction? Are you insane?

This is obvious hogwash flailing around to concoct new rationalizations, but it's telling even still they refuse to say who *is* USDS Administrator (there isn't one) because that would mean conceding somebody who isn't Musk is legally in charge of it.

democrats won’t admit it, but my family’s economic outlook has gotten a LOT better since Trump took office. but what do i know? i don’t have a fancy economics degree, i’m just a regular guy who runs an airplane scrapyard

Resigning now will be less humiliating than losing your primary by 20 points to a political novice who simply makes it clear that they’ll actually fight for us.

Huge turnout to protest the abuses of the Trump administration and save the civil service in downtown Seattle. Thousands in attendance.

Anybody who says this about their own job should be fired on the spot. But somehow it's never anybody saying it about their own job. Don't see Mark offering to turn over whatever it is he does these days to ChatGPT. In any event, sincerely believing this means you absolutely don't understand LLMs.

Democrats talked about fascism but they also spent the election campaigning with Liz Cheney to flip Republicans. Those republicans simply don’t exist. And then when they lost Biden smiled and welcomed the fascist to the White House, validating all the voters who said the fascism talk was “politics.”

Has it occured to them that one reason voters aren’t biting on the idea that liberal democracy is facing an existential threat is that they find it inconceivable the opposition party would be nattering about fucking egg prices if they really believed that were true?

What Trump has done for US farmers so far: -frozen their foreign aid program (and left their food to rot) -encouraged EU to ban their products -frozen legally-owed reimbursements for their energy efficiency upgrades etc. -threatened to deport half their workforce -suppressed research on bird flu
