“Dai Shi, you are a devil.”
Early in the third book, you get slapped in the face with some aggressive sexism. I had to pause.
I said if it continues to be like this, I won't finish
Cannot recommend it enough!
It is the only scary story where the terror of the book doesn't stay inside the book, it's in the night sky when I look up now
There’s a TV series too on Netflix I think defo worth a look too.
The book is better though. Aren’t they always 😊✌️
The names were difficult for me to keep track of.
Very American over here.
10🌟 s!!
The series is great.
The 3rd Book, Deaths End, will knock your socks off.
The dark forest hypothesis that these books describe is extremely stupid and wrong.
It is really something to think about.
They recently made a TV series that was… okish lol
But the books changed my brain chemistry in a good, or rather interesting way.
I am enjoying the TV series much better.
After that shit really starts kicking off, and it continues escalating for the whole trilogy. It’s awesome.
Me? I can write male characters, but unless they have a mental condition that one of my former patients had, I struggle to "get" what's going on inside their head... The why.
I’m glad others like it but my subjective opinion is that its poorly written and has lame characters

Don't watch it, especially after the books, you'll just get angry. Horrible show.
The TV adaptation was pretty well done, though.

I have read that in the original Chinese the sexism is great in this writer
https://www.reddit.com/r/threebodyproblem/comments/1c8lqfw/some_comparisons_of_the_chinese_originals/
The characters, however, are more like caricatures, and the character-building is borderline problematic (sexist, xenophobic, etc)
At the moment I listen to the sequel:
https://www.audible.de/pd/3837154106?source_code=ORGOR69210072400FV
also gives a terrifying information about the crimes of Cultural Revolution of Mao in China.
The series gets better as it goes too, much better in fact.
It grated on me constantly how the author is so confident that there are predetermined, sole logical social responses to these events. Reminds me of how tech bros think they have all the answers
And the women characters are really thin, among other feminist critiques
The Netflix series was appallingly bad.
There is a Chinese TV version you will find it on YouTube, much better.
