Moments after President Trump signed an executive order aiming to shut down the Department of Education—something only Congress can do—Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy said he would introduce legislation to accomplish the president’s goal.

These dopes don't even know what the department of education does. They operate under the misapprehension that the Department of Education is forcing a "woke" curriculum into schools.
Just underscores that Trump's action is unconstitutional.
Cassidy's bill will go nowhere.
(And Cassidy will still lose his primary to some MAGA freak for voting to remove Trump, no matter how much ass he kisses.)
30 years of DeVos, Federalists, Heritage, Republicans policies have de-educated U.S.; lowered learning standards, cut funding, Private/profit schools (Including Catholic/religious schools) don't have to comply with any standards, no certification required, no oversight. Money goes to their boards
The Republicans want uneducated children and no public education. They want children to work and those over 75 to die so they can get their hands on unused SS benefits. Evil. Put the uneducated in their place and throw away the elderly who should be revered.
And somehow, they’ll sell it to their base as exercising their freedom and fighting back against liberals intent on corrupting their kids with…knowledge.
Trump is making Washington DC fast become like the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City ! I am surprised that the Obelisk ais still standing and that there is water in the mall.
Have to wonder how Cassidy made it all the way through to, and including, med school w/o help in some form from the DoE.
And for the Heritage Foundation to weigh in so publicly...
well, there it is.
They are in full control.
We are living Project 2025.
And, they are gloating.
What ranking is LA in education and without federal government, how much further will LA fall behind? If they want their citizens to have high paying jobs, improve economic growth, education is the only way forward. This is absurd. Who would open a business there with low skilled employees.
The Department of Education is an important part to equalize access to education. I disagree with the destruction of it. It’s like they are trying to make us dumber.
you not only voted yes for RFK now we have children getting sick and dying ...now you are spear heading removing the department of education ..you have something against American children ...how deep is your hate or are you just stupid...
My instinct says its performative because they know Dems wouldn’t vote to eliminate it + there will be legal challenges, but I also don’t trust that they wouldn’t kill the filibuster or something to achieve this.
I know some GOP legislator introduced legislation to get rid of it with 51 votes.
I mean, this is correct approach! You do not want a law, you repeal it. If you can’t, the law stays. Which implies that as long as the dept of education is on the book, it stays on the book.
There's a bill to shut down DoE every Congress. There probably isn't enough support to pass either chamber, precisely because so much of that money goes to rural, GOP districts. Those members desperately DON'T want to vote on that bill.

The royalists aren’t going to like that one bit.

They either have a plan for really getting rid of it or Cassidy is being performative.

... Though it'd probably get Fetterman and/or Schumer's support 🙄
