Also, all creatives affected by AI, look into supporting PauseAI's legislation proposals to stop big tech's AI Agents and AGI. It's been a bad two years for artists, musicians, and voice actors, this is how you can fight back. https://pauseai.info/action
Art director / designer here who has been out of the business for several years (injury), but about to start working again freelance… Sincere question… Spent my career on Adobe. What software are people using in place of Adobe?? Are all of the other options headed in the same direction?
It's not ideal and I can't speak for how useful it is for a professional illustrator, but I personally use Clip Studio Paint. It can work with .PSD and though it lacks some pretty crucial PS functionalities like easy-to-use layer effects, it's infinitely cheaper and requires no subscription.
Krita has (in my opinion) the shortest learning curve moving from a photoshop environment, (nearly) every tool has a Krita equivalent that is pretty well documented
Because they deserve it.
First, they started offering their software rental-only, then they took their portfolio website and mined its users' works to feed their genAI without consent, and then they started scanning their users' local work for that too.
Adobe tried setting up an account over here, only for everyone to tell them to get bent when they attempted engagement farming. Given the stunts they pulled the past few years, it's very well justified they got the door slammed in their face.
Long story short; Ever-increasing subscription prices, convoluted process and even phantom charges for cancellation fees, and changing their ToS to make anything and everything ever created using Adobe viable for their AI slop training.
I think we should welcome big companies on here in any way possible. Them providing a tool that some people use in a controversial way should not be a reason for stopping their migration from xitter
Imagine being a comapny that's pushing GenAI bullshit trying to "hit it off" with a community, that consists of a majority of people who fled another SM-platform in large part due to their GenAI bullshit...
Yeah, we really need something to stop AI long term. It's been a bad two years for artists, musicians, and voice actors. All creatives affected by big tech's AI, need to know about PauseAI's and their legislation proposals to stop big tech's AI Agents and AGI.
They're a non-profit and have been campaigning and even lobbying against advanced AI since 2023, they've just needed public support. If creatives could join to call for their proposals, things could finally start to turning around. https://pauseai.info/action
if you stop ai usage on bigtech it will remain a government only tool. And I can bet my soul on they using to blackmail political enemies of the state.
and you wouldnt want "trump" being the only one able to use it would you?.

Not to mention they charge for leaving: I waited till my expiration date and they still charged me 96 dollars to cancel. They have exploited us enough!
Making it sound mean? Don't say that, that gives Adobe some form of appreciation. They want us to like them again? They should kick out AI garbage. I'm an artist, and I'm an artist with a relentless wrath towards AI. Adobe can get fucked by a saguaro.
I get it, I get it, I just picture like... I mean, it comes with the territory of being on the internet and having an official company account, but it's probably not their CEO posting, it's some random person they sent to the frontlines.
that is true, and unfortunately they are getting the brunt of it but also it's the first step to getting a company to know "Hey you fucked up." Look at nintendo right now. Sure, their frontline people get the flak of memes and DROP THE PRICE posts but these big companies need to hear it somewhere.
A majority of those ilk were twitter and facebook/threads expats and it was a mistake by bsky to open the floodgates so suddenly (which was abundantly clear by all the server issues after they did that).
the lists they're on are so funny
- megacorps
- doesn't pay for labor
- AI slop
+ multiple ones that just say Adobe
how f'ed do you have to be to work PR for a company whose name has become synonymous with being anti-art
Adobe integrated ai generated slop into their programs and advertisements which made people hate them so when they joined bluesky a bunch of haters swarmed their first post and forced them to delete it
This is not a joke this actually happened lmao
1.- ass-burnt artists crying for ai slop that mostly end up used to make ugly corporate shit.
2.- youre crying but youre still paying them so they dont delete your pantene libraries from your old files (ANOTHER RASON TO HATE THEM)
3.- so fucking glad i use my old pirated sai and opentoons
Only context I found of it myself so far, but TLDR - looks like Adobe tried engagement farming on Bluesky and got demolished until they deleted the post.
Adobe like: why don't real artists like my AI generated bullshit?? Why don't they like it when I collect their data to train my bullshit? Why am I losing customers??
Adobe made their first post on here and got absolutely demolished by just shy of 2000 replies saying things like "fuck you" "piracy is always morally correct" and alternatives to their software.
its amazing seeing the unity happen of telling a big company to fuck off was so great haven't seen to this extent since that one official bitcoin account on tumblr got blasted of off the map in less than a week cause the userbase did not have any of it
Adobe made an account, put up a post promoting their products, and promptly got their butthole torn by thousands of negative comments. They deleted the post and havent said anything since.
technically no, but since adobe subscription includes a pretty potent ai model, ass burnt artists went to cry in mase, adobe's account manager panicked and erased all its posts.
if youre going to cry, cry for something real, Like I DONT KNOW, ADOBE's ABUSIVE PRICINGS.

it's not art if NOBODY created it.
as a linux user watching the sh*tshow going on over there, this was very pleasing
They made an account on here, a site that has a user base quite well known to... let's just say "discourage" generwtive AI usage.
They made one post, got a few dozen thousand negative responses, deleted the post and have gone radio silent.
and you wouldnt want "trump" being the only one able to use it would you?.

I can't redraw anlantica volume 1 because of the god-awful updates.
The roast was glorious to see lmao
Then they put the features behind a higher paywall
Then they turned it into an all encompassing barely legal subscription that is nearly impossible to back out of.
The nail in the coffin was stealing art for a proprietary AI.
They're not welcome here.
They were going to make an account on bluesky
But they got banned
(Satisfaction)

Adobe tried some cutesy "Hey artists we love you post links to other artists and inspiring work here!"
Bluesky did not take kindly to that.
