There has never been a better time to go out of your way to make an extra effort to shop at family-owned small businesses buying local products whenever possible, avoiding chains, online behemoths, and big corporations whenever you are able.

If you want to save money travel to Canada and buy products in Canada. $1 US is $.79. Get a vacation check out the Rockies, and save on expensive items.
Your message is an important one. Grassroots efforts to support We The People rather than the M's and B's. And protests. MAGAs and Trump supporters are not the majority.
🍊 has officially ordered a 90-day freeze onCollege Pell Grants and Loans,Medicaid, free school lunch programs, Section 8, Rental Assistance, TANF, Headstart, and WIC! Where are the GOP Senators? Sitting back twiddling their thumbs, giving their Constituents their White & ( 1) Black Ass to KISS!!😡
I shop thrift, consignment stores, EBay, Etsy, Costco, just downloaded Duck Duck Go for web browsing and https://Bookshop.org. Trying to do my part, small as it may be.
Exactly! We slept and let this Oligarchy happen all in the name of convenience!
We destroyed the small businesses by satisfying our passions for bigger and better! 🥹
Just remember to look for pro maga signs in the cute window display.
So many locally owned businesses are raging maga. Some are blatant on their reader boards, others have small decals, black US flags, or other maga-isms.
Exactly. Am in Florida and if I don’t know who they voted for am not going to support them. There’s a barber and a local burger place whose owners are MAGA. Not going to support them.
This Jersey boy is living in Mississippi for the love and to love a wonderful woman, why else. Have never seen a red hat, ok 2 yard signs and no other MAGA junk . It’s a given here. And the elections prove it. I had a Dr speechless when correcting him saying the Stock Market double w/ Biden.
Kind of you to say. However we know who’s the lucky one. Both of us widows for 15 & 17 years . Accepting of living alone with basic routines mastered. On FB comparing living in NJ & MS - “just never know what or who may around that next corner.” Love & hugs to you & yours
It's a nice idea, but destined for disaster.
Sadly most mom-and-pop stores were driven out of town many years ago and unfortunately we have grown accustomed to the convenience of buying online, particularly after Covid.
I have or had a large Hispanic base of customers coming into my ice cream shoppe. I didn’t care if they were legal or illegal. They always bought the most expensive items-shakes, banana splits and spent lots of money. In the last two weeks-I’ve had one family. I’m sure they are all laying low 😠
These oligarchs are so vulnerable, it’s just hard to see. We don’t need to socialize through their services and we don’t need to buy from their stores. We can stop all of that and drop their net worth to near zero in a quarter or two.
I'm sticking with my food co-op, I own it. Not only are the prices reasonable and fair, but I'm supporting myself, my friends my community, farmers and workers
Unless that business has anything to do with electing this mess. Then you are justified in boycotting them, and doing everything possible to run them into the ground. Take out the enemy at every opportunity. (Paraphrased, Art of War)
Yea…up here in Canada there is a new effort to “Buy Canadian…avoid US products” thanks to the tariff threat and “we don’t need Canada for anything” messaging.
As long as that local owned is not MAGA. Support women owned, black owned, minority owned - progressive establishments. Don’t pay an owner who will donate to trump or buy his damn coins with your money.
Take a good look at your local women owned, black owned, and minority owned local stores and make sure, as NYCCittaMia recommends, they are progressive establishments and part of the maga voter base.
2024 exit polls were revealing.
Every day I’m looking for alternatives. One good thing that could come out of this is that small business come back and new businesses stop selling to the big guys. They practically own everything now. So the trend should go the other way. Shop small businesses !
I agree I’m sure there’s local shops in the town you live in that you could go to get similar items. plus Target is overpriced anyway. But if target and Walmart are the only stores in your area, I understand, but when you can go somewhere else.
Absolutely support small businesses! If possible, urge the small businesses to form purchasing co-ops to enable them as one group get volume prices. This will help them if local and state republicans decide to go after small businesses by taxing them higher.
My two favorite places to shop anyway, are Costco and TJ’s……I rarely used Amazon anyway. Not much of an online shopper. I’ve always preferred to buy in person
Disclose what you know. That is bad news. I once won a case when I filed a PCA charge against my employer, with the help of the NLRB. It’s incredibly helpful. TJs workers have a union, and PCA is typically a protection for non-unionized employees, I think. But yeah that’s really troubling.
🇨🇦 In Canada, there's a lot of chatter about boycotting US chains and products.
BC Premier Eby has floated the idea of banning US wine imports. One commenter said, maybe hold off on wine since it's from blue-state California. But bourbon from Kentucky? You bet!
Sure thing for this audience. Most already do. But for republicans, maga and conservatives…. they would sell their mothers for another nickel. Good fucking luck.
The trouble is the product sourcing and warehouse issues or lack of them including the already missing stores.
Small stores can’t keep an inventory like they use to do. Even grocery stores have reduced selections and they dont keep many small brands for long just the big commercial suppliers. 😢
Small family owned businesses tend to have much higher prices. I can barely afford discount retailers. So no. I won’t be patronizing mom and pop stores. That kind of activism is fine for the rich but not doable for me.
For those of us ‘shut-ins’ for myriad reasons, local isn’t really a thing; the ubers and grubhubbers of the world are a lifeline. Check to see which app your local businesses use..
Aldi’s battery operated grocery cart, which I need, is almost always in use or its battery drained. I haven’t been there since I broke my back in a car crash none months ago.
Trump's core is NOTHINGNESS to improve quality, well-being & safety of Americans! It's MAGA sh't at work purging America (even of Americans, but he's criminal too), American homogeneity, attacks DEI, birthright citizenship, changing names, Isolationism, etc. Not about Americans! It's a sick vision!
I no longer eat at any fast food places I saw on Goods Unite Us as being rightwing. I stopped going to the same gas station for cheaper gas because it's GOP-giving. I don't go to the same grocery stores anymore unless they donated Blue.
IF we can achieve a 6 month government shutdown, Trump's popularity should drop to near ZERO.
It's our only hope that I see. But the entire Republican party likely will flip if Dems flip, with GOP voting to increase debt ceiling. Freedom Caucus has always voted "Nay" to debt ceiling increases.
Good idea, here in Klamath Falls Oregon a large privately owned grocery is selling eggs for just over $4 a dozen and Walmart is selling eggs for more than $9 a dozen. ????
Biggest problem here is it is deep red…..trying to avoid trumpers here is tricky so I try to find out how they lean. Also, with Franchises, although the Corp may lean one direction the local franchises might lean opposite. It does take due diligence.
Except if all of your local small businesses are Trumpturd owners. In my town, there is only one business that I know of that is not right wing. So I’ll drive out of my way to go to someone else.
Came across a local eatery last weekend with a Trump sign near the entrance. Noted. I agree to support local businesses, but if they are supporting Trump, they are not getting my dollars.
Been doing that for decades. Either grow my own food organically or buy from local farmers. Same with furniture,, auto repairs and maintenance, household items. etc.
Well if you consider how much damage that online shipping is creating then yeah perhaps dont be a jerk. Not to mention the total destruction of local business.
That's been my operating guide for decades. So many people are so blind to what they're doing to their communities until its way too late.. then you hear them bitch about missing some place or another, before then ordering from Buffalo Wild Wings
I did stockpile ahead of this year anticipating tariff craziness, and am trying to reduce my consumption altogether, upcycle and do without. No more Amazon and it wasn’t even hard - just those edge case items you use to find on Radio Shack lol.
I always have but I’m growing food. Something positive, my next door neighbor has been having me over to share lunch. He’s a trumper and knows I’m a staunch dem/ feminist. I’ve been here 10 yrs. This is new.
I live in a rural area and shop from local businesses as much as I can. The merchants here always give back to the community. They sponsor youth sports and they keep the senior apartments stocked with fresh fruit and vegetables every week. The local grocery store provides baked goods as well.
I live in a rural area. We drive 26 miles to grocery shop as the two local mom & pops are MAGA. They also rely heavily on SNAP to stay in business. It’s going to be fun.
It is time for all average Americans to realize the rich are controlling elections, politicians and you! Does not matter what party you lean. For 40 years they have been taking money from workers and the government. Then they merge and make more by giving us less choices!
You realize some of us own a one or two franchise store operation. We pay locals that are in our town to work for us. Our neighbors. Make sure you know the difference between corporate franchise owned, multi unit operations and the small business licensees that are part of the local community.
I hear you and I would love to never set foot in Walmart again or order from Amazon but for my family and most of my friends it’s often our only affordable option. Fixed incomes, minimum wage jobs. We’re trapped. Farms markets help in the summer but that’s it
How many go arounds do you think we have to shop anywhere. Crops are dying. Eggs not touching one. Meat god all the crap that they can catch and no warning or tracking.
and unfortunately if you live in Canada, you buy Canadian as much as possible and avoid US products and US based Chains. No other option at this point.
This one is VERY hard for me as a hermit. I have used delivery services before Amazon existed, it just made it easier. I have a local shop that I buy everything I can from them but the rest is to one millionaire or another, I guess I’ll just make sure it’s a Canadian millionaire w/canadian products.
Not everyone can do this. Some live in rural areas where options are few, or are disabled or seniors with even fewer options. Some of these stores everyone is upset with do a lot of work in local communities, especially for non-profits. Do your homework before jumping on the protest bandwagon.
Support cooperatives and worker-owned businesses. When the community owns their own businesses, they hold their destiny in their own hands and have greater resilience against the wills of the extractive and unelected billionaire class.
Food co-ops are community-owned and democratically run. One of the most effective ways to strengthen our democracy is to support democratic businesses. 💜
Ditch the corporate media. They are accountable to profit, not people. Support journalism with a soul. It's time to strengthen our autonomy and build the future we want as members of our communities. Don't allow unelected rich folks to dictate how you live your life.
Democratic community ownership of our shops, utilities, and services is how we resist and combat the great disparity before us. When dollars are spent at locally owned businesses, they're more likely to be spent locally, creating a circular economy promoting positive cycles of economic/job growth.
REI has been problematic in recent times. Union busting and other issues. Unfortunately, some co-ops are taken over by management who care about money over mission.

I would go one further and say we should cultivate an alternate economy that they can’t control.
If they’re going to be Technofascists, we can be Technohippies living in our high tech private local communities.
Fuck Amazon
Fuck Walmart
Fuck Target

Now you can realize one of the purposes of taxation is to prevent big wealth gap
Massive wealth grants some few an immense influence over the many
In capitalism, wealth=power

REPORTING/REPEATING STUPID/EVIL THINGS TRUMP DOES IS [OK]
BUT IT'S WHAT HE LIKES
HE DON'T LIKE BEING CALLED OUT
DON'T LIKE TO LOOK WEAK.
NEEDS TO BE PINNED AGAINST THE WALL FOR NOT ENDING UKRAINE WAR
& NOT LOWERING FOOD COSTS.
WHICH IS WHY HE GOT ELECTED.

If you're just a reflection of the norms of the area, I suppose mom & pop places might be a better experience for you.
