I read an article claiming that the original switch from pure connections to meritocracy in Ivy League schools was actually based in egalitarian principles, but with the mistaken assumption that grades reflect intelligence, which can't be purchased. We all know it didn't quite work out that way... 😔
I kind of wish FDR's thing about everyone having a right to a job paying a living wage had caught on, but with a couple of tweaks: 4-day work weeks so you had a day each for family, yourself, and chores. That would allow people to function better, and live a more human life.
If it were so important for tRump to strive for hiring only the best and brightest, NONE OF THE PEOPLE HE's placed to head the most important departments would be in those positions.
Instead he's chosen people who are unqualified, but subservient to tRump. A bunch of suck ups.
White wealthy establishments have no other goal than maintaining their power.
There is no better con they have been running since the 18th cent than convincing people they are on the same side.
