A co-worker had the roof of her house torn off in the middle of the night back in 2020—they had all been in bed when they heard the alert—with a toddler & a baby.

As you can imagine we didn’t have a fallout shelter as we weren’t expected to survive even if we had one.
Fallout shelters were a sign of optimism in Omaha.
It’s very much NOT that easy now.
That and the time I had to walk home from school with a random classmates nanny during a surprise blizzard because school closed mid day and I was in my uniform jumper and oxford shoes in the snow /2
(My parents worked and just didn't pick up the phone? It was fine I got fed an incredible meal of Filipino food and eventually my parents picked up the phone and came and got me... still think it's wild they were like go home with this kid)
