This is how I put books on my kindle that are not for Amazon. (I have not bought an ebook since I found out about bookshop)

You can download the EPUB file from the browser, from the downloads in the browser open the file in the kindle app, and that will send it to your kindle library….

I use Kindle. I don't like distractions when I read, and that's when I take a break from my phone. It is also very light and convenient. It fits in my purse so I can read when I'm in line waiting.

With a local library card anyone can rent a book digitally and download it to their reading software for FREE. U get 3 weeks but can extend that. If the book is out you can mark it for reading and will be notified when it comes in. My daughter in Europe uses her local Florida library card.

You can buy ebooks from the Kobo store or even loan them via Overdrive from any public library in Australia. If you have a Kindle though, you’re screwed.

No, kindle restricts so you can only use the kindle app. You will need to download the bookshop app on your phone or a tablet like an iPad or iPad mini, or a B&N book reader

Same. Just found a replacement for my last subscribe and save item. It was a lot easier to quit than I anticipated. We’ve become so acclimated to using things like Amazon and FB that it seems like a big deal to dump them, but it’s really easy. It will make an impact if enough people follow suit!

Me too. Got my last order yesterday. Today cancelled all, unplugged my echo (even though I can NOT get Apple Music to play my sleep music the way I need it) Discovered I can get most of my s&s items directly from the companies. That was the last tie I had and I feel so free now.

Remember many many independent authors are on Amazon because they forced them into an agreement where they cannot post the e-book anywhere else. So Amazon is the only place you can get a lot of authors work.
