Christmas is so stressful because a) I never know what to get anyone, and b) I don't really want anything, so I don't know what to tell people to get me.

I don't normally want anything either but I saw a post the other day that said good gifts for men are binoculars and walkie talkies, and it hit home, like yeah those are cool
There is a website that is called giftster you can create Christmas list and share it with your family and friends and they can create Christmas list to give you idea ideas and makes it so easy.
Just argued with my husband about this 10 minutes ago. I asked for something simple, which he bought. But, he feels it's not enough. It's all I could think of because I buy what I want when I want. Asked him what he wants. He answered "anything is fine". The hell?!
Dunno if this helps much, but long ago a friend explained to me that his whole family benefited from an unspoken rule of "consumables."
Don't get people things that will be permanent...ly stuffed in storage. What do they enjoy? Get them things they'll like to eat / drink / use up and then it's gone.
I now tell my friends and family that we will donate to a cause that is meaningful to them. (Animal shelters, poverty relief, environmental causes, etc.)
Your subscription idea is also good.
Literally the only thing I can think of that I want that I’d be comfortable asking someone for is a small mending loom and some thread so I can patch things. I can’t think of anything else I need/want that’s a reasonable gift price range. Video cards are not gift range price 😬
Maybe get people sustainable things like reusable produce bags (little ones to replace the plastic bags for peppers and lettuce etc), glass freezer/ fridge/doggie bag containers, stuff like that.
And for you or them: experiences versus stuff.
omg It's been decades since I used to stop at a German bakery every morning on my way to work to get brotchen. I was JUST thinking about this recently. The crispy crust & soft bread inside. I LOVE this! Thank you for sharing the link!
If you want help figuring out gifts for yourself and others, I'm really good at picking things out and giving ideas that are 90% spot on
Years of working retail 🤣
I'm also bored
Like ... REALLY bored and craving the ability to be useful
More seriously, just go to Elliott Bay books in cap hill and get everyone a book (including yourself). They’ve got a great cafe that can power you with caffeine while you browse and amazing staff that can help you pick them out! I’m also happy to shoot off a bunch in the replies
If you are not sure what to get, ask for a subscription to a local news source. We have never needed local news sources more, and there are always more paywalls than any of us want to pay for. But I usually use Christmas to get stuff that I would probably buy anyway, except now it comes wrapped...
When my late grandmother worked for Johnson & Johnson it was so easy, she'd order a bunch of cotton swabs, big bottles of Extra Strength Tylenol, what have you, from the company store, and every one of her kids got all their OTC medical needs taken care of for the year.
Haha, sounds about right. I'd skip exchanging gifts with adult family members if they were on board. Best gift I ever got was an experience, not an item.
As a family we all agreed no more presents. Just stocking stuffers. Easy fun lowkey gifts. Post it note pads, soaps, candles, mittens, pens, chocolates, basically fun junk. Gift card if you really want to.
Christmas has gotten way easier for me as my kids have grown. They don't want "things", so we give each other food, something home crafted, or tickets/plans for things we can do together. So good to be the parent of progressive "hippy" young adults!
Ask them not to give you anything. Explain that in lieu of buying stuff, you will now be giving money to some worthy group.
I’ve been doing this for about 12 years. No regrets on my part AND, bonus, my family was happy to be relieved of one source of stress.
I prefer true meaning of Christmas
"to give up one's very self – to think only of others – how to bring the greatest happiness to others – that is the true meaning of Christmas."
Christmas wasn't about bling, until retailers saw an opportunity 🤑
I celebrate Festivus https://festivusweb.com/festivus-the-human-fund.php
Can you just not bother? I have work Kris Kringle and gave some money to my niece and nephew and don't bother with other family members and nobody is upset.
If you don’t want ‘things’, ask for fun gourmet or bulk versions of your favorites foods. My parents get me a vegan gift box every year and it’s fun to try new products.

If that's too much, you can always ask for local treats. Consumable noms are pretty fun!

One of my clients bought one and her travelling has taken off... literally.
So my Christmas wish is for one of these white and gold #movaglobes
