I used to work in the entertainment industry. Every IATSE worker I met expressed regret for joining this union. They claimed to be less stressed when they worked as independent theater employees.

Being an IATSE member was an incredible experience for me. Our concentration on safety was an especially valuable contribution to lengthening my life in comparison to independent gigs. Much less stress and fewer injuries as an IA member. Better pay, more clearly defined roles.
