I didn't realise that the UK's leading anti-trans hate group, Sex Matters, was a registered charity
That means they have to publish finances and honour FOIs right?

Charity operations are ran, essentially, as public interest bodies - so emails should really be considered a matter of public record if they claim to have an official function as a charity.

Absolutely do not do this.
And of course (thanks to the LGBA case) nobody has standing to challenge their decisions. Which is *why* they’re taking the piss.
Meanwhile, Good Law Project will never be allowed to register as a charity: too “political”.
I was obliged only to furnish my annual report and accounts upon request. There was no obligation to engage otherwise with non funders.

Interestingly enough, it perfectly matches the address of an accounting firm which has one of its specialties as working for charities.
So I assume that’s why that address is used in filings

#Cunninghame is a trustee!

Suggests they do not have to honour FOIA requests. Which is disappointing.
Which may be a possible workaround.
Charities don’t fall under FOI
regs - I think that’s just public bodies.
"Charities can undertake political activity in support of their charitable aims, but it's not acceptable for a charity to pursue its aims solely through political activities."
In the Mermaids vs LGB Alliance case it was ruled that no-one had standing to challenge their decisions, so if the CC wants to make Tufton Street a charity, or “Blackshirts Roman Salute Elon Musk” a charity, nothing can legally stop them.
But it's OK because they promised not to go outside their remit 🙄
LGB Alliance are, Salvation army are, heck probably any homophobic organisation you can think of probably is.
You can always argue black is white if you're determined.
They registered in April 24, so first finance report is due next year.
