A close but imperfect analogy is e-mail. You can't just buy or kill e-mail, not even if you're a nation state.

You can buy https://gmail.com, in theory - and that would mean people change e-mail provider, e-mail address, and lose messages and contacts. With BlueSky that last part wouldn't even happen.
