My favorite Lent fact. Originally, you were supposed to eat fish the full 40 days not just on Fridays. Reason for eating fish was decreed was a Pope from the middle ages brother was the largest fish monger in Italy at the time.
Also @redditcfb.com said It's the first Friday in Lent. It is official Catholic doctrine that Benny Beaver is a fish, and so you are allowed to eat him today.
I went running at a park in Brazil where they just kind of lived and there were all these signs saying not to touch them because they have some communicable disease.
My dad, who practices religion in no other aspects of his life, still refuses to eat meat on Fridays during Lent. He’s 69yo. The childhood trauma of being raised Catholic runs deep.
I actually have a grudging admiration for religious groups that are able to carve out exceptions to stupid rules like this. It requires a heavy dose of shamelessness, but if you've already abandoned logic and critical thinking, you do what you gotta do.
The things is biologists don't really have an answer. The stuff we think of as fish are a grab bag of different species that don't from a coherent biological category.
every time "x doesn't exist in taxonomy" comes up its baffling to me
what do you mean there's no fish, what challenges are there to the concept of fish? i.e. uses gills to breathe in water, has scales and fins, doesn't use a blowhole like dolphins and whales do, and their tail fin goes side to side

Lent was essentially his Christmas season
Lake perch & walleye. Love now as an adult. Hated it as a kid
