Deaf Ear comes next, but it doesn't know its own history. Website says 1978, but that's when it moved to Third Street. Old papers say August 1976, when it started in the painted alley.
True, but Truckers hasn't been a record store for all that time. They stopped selling music at some point. More of a gift shop and head shop in recent years. That was my favorite record store when I lived in Eau Claire in the late '70s.
I don't know why they've never corrected that. Ken Grant opened it as a little hole in the wall stocked mostly with castoffs from his own collection, then it moved upstairs in spring '77, shortly before he sold the store to Alex D'Angelo.
