If electricity prices were low at point of generation energy intensive industries would establish there increasing economic development in remote communities and compensating locals.
It’s now cheaper to run a distillery in the Cotswolds than Argyll!
You can move the electricity around the UK any way you want to, but without a capability of storing the surplus energy generated for future use, I.e. night time and dull days, you are n the same position as Poland and Germany
