How does everyone feel about horror games? And what's your favourite horror game
For me, I can watch people play them no problem, play them with my friends no problem but still get scared, but playing them alone?? Nuh uhβββ

But even so I will watch people play horror games all the time I don't usually get scared when I watch someone play a horror game
And now I actually want to play a horror game by myself but umm who knows when that will happen...
Lol
But if I played by myself I'd die honestly
But I for some reason I LOVE to do things I know will terrify me π
If you're a scaredy cat like me, I'd say Inscryption is pretty tame. A couple of creepy moments and jump scares, but overall an amazing game!
Survival horror doesn't get me, nor do game that rely on jumpscares.
Probably best summed up as a sort of morbid curiosity?
Other than that, I love watching some else play em xD
In other words... I'm a big baby
I COULDN'T FINISH HOLLOW KNIGHT
THE ABYSS ENEMIES WERE JUST TO CREEPY FOR ME
I'd say my favorite horror game is Among the Sleep.
(I watched a playthrough cuz im too scared to play myself)
More story-driven than scary. Although the spook factor kind of wore off after a while, it pushed me to try out more horror games afterwards. When we had parties, all the young people crowded around me just to watch me play scary games lol
My favorites of all time:
1. The Evil Within
2. Outlast
3. Alien: Isolation
4. Dead Space
5. Alan Wake
6. SOMA
Not necessarily that many players, but enough of dedicated ones that you'll see it pop up every once in a while
I absolutely can't play them solo, but I will try to play them co-op.
The games are always more fun when playing with others, especially when there silly vibes with yours ;p
It makes it just a spoopy game instead of a horror game ^_^
Dead Space is my all time fave. Awesome and original take on the zombie genre and terrifying!
They didn't just crush it with the aesthetics but all of the audio cues and rattling were so damned stressful I had to take breaks.
Learning to master fear is so damned satisfying.
There's no music either and that makes everything amplified because there's not like a song for "oh hey a ghost is there" ... there's just a ghost and if it wants to get you, it will.
Biohazard was one of the first horror games I played, and it had some pretty good jump scares.
It must've been next level in VR.
playing Voices of the void I eventually learned to relax and enjoy the atmosphere, but when stalker 2 released and I decided to play the previous games nobody warned me about the fucking tunnels holy fu
i stress myself too much playing them tho lol
Shameless plug
Horror coop? Fuck yeah! But the second im alone and hear ANYTHING I'll scream
My favorite is Until Dawn
no idea what kinda weird trauma happened over the years but im literally not afraid of anything anymore and i think bioshock was the only game to ever scare me.
i found outlast 1 and 2 kinda boring...
Then again I could sweep through KinitoPET and FNACD... Maybe if I get spoiled on stuff I'm fine with it?? shrug.
It's the reason why I've made a game similar as well as an upcoming one too.
Horror alone: *PAIN*
Ones where the monster is invulnerable though? Horrifying, petrifying (Outlast, Alien Isolation..). I could never fully finish one, and had nightmares.
i never new what i was supposed to do and i panicked at the WRONG βββ YOU GOT EVERYTHING WRONG
Jump scares also help to make studying far more interesting
But i personally love horror. Ofc it depends on a type. Bc i hate games that are made only for money. Its often obvious which ones are like that.
As for my favourite... I need to pick an rpg maker one, so Pocket Mirror. But shout out to silent hill and resident evil!
I haven't seen Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo mentioned yet, but I LOVE how subtle the horror is there.
does half life alyx count? cause that part with jeff was scary as fuck
I like to have some defensive options in situations of danger. Well, that or just a darn good narrative.
As for my favourite? Silent Hill 3. An unsettling atmosphere throughout, with odd sounds played at random to keep the player on their toes. I love-hate it.
I quite enjoy playing or watching them. I typically try to get them the day before I have a day off so I can stay up late to play in the dark.
Favorite to watch is Until Dawn, but favorite to play is Alan Wake
Sounds crazy, ik. My sister first introduced it to me. Crazy good and intricate psychological horror story game. It does get very dark, so viewer/player discretion is advised!!!
My favorite horror game is fnaf 4
Excellent, excellent game - and very, very scary.
And my current faves are Phasmo, A Day Out, and Demonologist.
Playing with friends is a lot better because it has a comedic effect to it... well in my friends group. If it's a friend who needs a hand, I will sneak away from them :^)
I also love watching people play horror games Iβve already finished and seeing their reactions~
Games (media in general) that tackle Psychological Horror is a tougher one for me to get into for me
Fav horror game as of rn is Mouthwashing
Jumpscares do little to nothing for me
My favorite horror game is currently Control
I do think VR would work better because Iβm virtually embodying the character.
Thanks for the recommendation, Iβll have to write it down since this site doesnβt do bookmarks
I have horrible anxiety. I supply hoard and worry about when to save.
Also if I die and have to replay a large to medium sized chunk, I will be annoyed and maybe take a break from playing.
My favourite is probably dead space.
Iβd like more adventurous horror that gets you thinking, with a decent plot.
That being AW or Control is probably my favorite Creepy Game.
The OG Dead Space and FEAR
Both excellent shooters with spooky vibes
Might not be a horror game to some, but it is to me.
Top pick is probably Signalis, the aesthetics are immaculate.
