My grandfather often recited an old folk verse that went "It ain't the heavy haulin' that hurts the horse's hooves/It's the hammer hammer hammer on the hard highway." Hope getting back into nature helps you feel better!
Follow up: I wonder if you are experiencing a cramp of sorts from a muscle that didn't get used as much when you were up and down across England and is now pissed that you are again temporarily a flatlander.
My suggestion from across the pond is heat and massage. I agree that it's probably from going from climbing to flat land and that muscle/tendon needs some stretching out, but only after you get it warmed up. Good luck!
After the hike is done are you planning to do a summary for the main newsletter? Been meaning to check in on progress but keep forgetting every morning!
