We need a work requirement for the Missouri GOP. They plagiarize bills, scroll on their phones all day, disrespect the voters, work 90 days a year, and walk away with taxpayer-funded healthcare and a state pension.

Yup. I wrote this about Texas 10-years ago. The reason they like low regulation is it means they set a budget every two years and then get the hell out of dodge. https://markcathcart.com/2015/07/30/texas-is-an-ass/
I’m so sick of them demonizing folks who are poor and/or disabled. Families I’ve worked with have busted their butts to get off Medicaid only to get worthless “high deductible” plans at their jobs that are only handy if you get hit by a bus.
Exactly. Plus, around 2000 corps, & even our “not for profit hospital” , started trying to keep people at 32 hours a week so they wouldn’t have to pay any benefits or provide insurance. Walmart does this; most Walmart employees are eligible for Medicaid.
Because republicans make a point of voting, without knowing anything about the candidate. As long as there is an R by their name, the vote for them.
Democrats and independents don’t make voting a priority. They feel if they don’t know anything about a candidate, it’s better not to vote
Medicaid is what your Grandparents use when they have dementia and need a memory care facility. Most nursing homes accept Medicaid after the family can no longer private pay. Are they going to go back to work? I don’t think so. These GOP are idiots and have a warped sense of fairness.
Boy howdy on work requirements for the GOP ! This article 🤬 so many folks on ‘Caid cant work. It funds so many children & nursing home patients, disabled in group homes, disabled, low income folks; good grief!
I lost a childhood best friend of 14+ years because she moved to Missouri and proceeded to be brainwashed by multiple men until she decided defending this crap was more important than having any morals or standing up for anyone besides herself. It’s a cancer of sorts to say the least.
I prefer my tax dollars support disabled and poor folks rather than millionaires and billionaires. And for the next person who says “trickle down” to me, I hope your estate planning documents are in order.
The hypothetical scenario included the time frame most teachers have off for the summer.
Right wing extremists who do not read above a 6th grade level -may argue that it is exhausting voting yes for everything-
without considering the constitution, citizens, science or the rule of law.
State legislatures are quite the grift these days. With term limits they’ll jump around to all the elected positions they possibly can, then they’ll become lobbyists or develop canned bills to push to the red states (ex. AR Jason Rapert - Natl. Association of Christian Legislators)
We need to start asking them about laws they've passed that affect their constituents, then turn around and ask their constituents how those laws are serving them locally. It's nice to want transgender women out of sports, but how does that pay your bills?
They eternally yearn to extract work from the sick, the handicapped, the old and the infirm. They in turn tend to be in search of revenge on the helpless. This is a game beloved in all the red states.
Of course they do . Pretty soon they will have folks earning basic needs by digging tunnels . For shame on these people . The voters “ they know not what they do “. Just so taken advantage of but primed to thing otherwise .
One third of Medicaid recipients in this country are CHILDREN! Our Wisconsin legislators is just as worthless, however we have a democratic governor with veto power which keeps them somewhat constrained. They are true “welfare abusers.”
This was attempted in Kentucky by our last Republican Governor. The courts threw it out. They said that this was an insurance plan, not an employment plan.
Hmmm. Makes universal health care look good. Universal health care IS an insurance plan. Too many stay employed just for the insurance.
Work requirements for Medicaid recipients? Like my grandma in a nursing home who worked her whole life, and my friend’s disabled child?
Tax the billionaires. Let the most vulnerable in this country be cared for. For calling ourselves a Christian nation, you have strange way of showing it.
This is an initiative by ALEC which is affiliated with the Heritage Foundation. I keep telling everyone that they need to watch the documentary 'Bad Faith' it is free to watch on either Pluto or Tubi, I can't remember which. It will make all of the plan clear here. Iowa has the same thing going.
ALEC is a lobbying organization that actually writes the bill language for the state reps, also national, but they are focused on state legislation right now.
Oh yeah, I have been saying this for many many years, the days when our paid legislators state and federal were only required to work the equivalent of Max half a year was when they had to tend things back at home to keep the lights on. Hasn't been that way in a long time! 1/2
It's long overdue to have work and output accountability reporting as well as a halt to 90% of the line items that are considered an allowable expense. I'm not so sure we need to leave their budgets up to average Joe, but all the laws are written by them to benefit them so there absolutely 1/2
needs to be some sort of oversight on that portion of the budget. Again, no clue what that looks like or if it's even possible, but damn something has got to give! It genuinely probably starts at the local level as well. Sighhh 😔 2/2
Do these idiots not realize that there is already reporting in place? The minute you show any income Within reason, not a few hundred bucks obviously, you are required to report the change. Are people going to scam the system? Absolutely. Do we have bigger fish to fry? Again, absolutely! 1/2
Pretty sure we can find the data set that shows Medicare has less fraud than private insurance and covers more with less waste as well. Similarly, I'm sure there's the data that Medicaid has less fraud than anybody has a clue. Sure would be nice to have zero fraud everywhere, but not happening! 2/2
That’s what people need to do, get their attention. Republicans work less than anybody I know. Even at work, watch people. Play on phones, voted for trump. They have no work ethic’s.
That's not plagiarism; that's a concerted effort by the Republican Party around the country to bring about minority rule. They were going to do this with or without Trump. It's just gone faster and extra legal (what they hadn't been able to make legal yet) and that makes some of them uncomfortable.
But not that uncomfortable, which is why you don't see them showing a spine. They are more than spineless; many want unchallenged rule. They are, in their minds, our betters. Betters don't have to listen to the citizens.
Excellent plan, fire more people from fed departments than there are jobs available in Missouri, and then make even more people have to find jobs just to have healthcare. GOP really firing on all cylinders.
I would think this wouldn't get passed on a ballot... but Misery did vote 🍔 king so who knows. Anyway fuck jill carter, gotta remember that name unfortunately
Volunteered to accompany my 8th grade grandson to Jefferson City to observe our lawmakers. Was appalled and embarrassed by the rude behavior of our elected officials. They were mostly scrolling, talking among themselves, generally not paying attention to the matter at hand. Really poor example.
Welcome to missouri, where, if you are not creating profit for somebody else, fuck you, you can just fucking die then. Absolutely nobody gives a fuck about anybody around this shithole state.
And if other people aren't profiting off of you, you can just fuck off
The state despises you.
The Tories tried this with Disability payments in the UK. The end result was a lot of suffering, and not a few suicides. Examiners were actually given a target of refusals and sanctions they had to meet on any given day. It was so corrupt.
Ok - Unless Republicans suspend all H-1B visas and actually put Americans into jobs... this will never work. Additionally, they need to outlaw ghost jobs AND change at will employment laws. On top of that, they'll need to raise Fed min wage to work in ALL states.
I would like to add
Don’t acknowledge constituent emails (a canned “thank you for your message” seems in order since we pay your dang salary?!) and Don’t hold town halls; Have a lot to say about public schools but never actually visit them.
A work permit for Medicaid patients? There are many who are dependent on Ventilators needed to breathe and to survive; what type of job do you see them doing?
I will say it until I am blue in the face. Medicaid is not just for poor people. It’s also for the disabled. Are they going to require someone with autism and a 60 IQ who is in a day hab program to get a job? Someone who is perm disabled due to injury? We really need to understand what Medicaid is.
They understand perfectly well. They don't care. They don't care about poor. Or children. Or disabled. These same people call social security an entitlement. And the magats go, right it's socialism. Because their hatred overcomes any shred of logic they may retain. Like, it comes out of our pay.
Exactly. It’s also for the not disabled disabled. The people who should be disabled but aren’t deemed ‘disabled’. I want to go back to work. No one wants me because I’m one semester short of my degree and I have PTSD from ending up in ICU after a coworker got me sick with their ‘allergies’.
I nearly died for ffs. The paramedics were like omg you’re in super trouble. (They weren’t trying to scare me, I couldn’t breathe and still was apologizing for bothering them) I coded. I wonder why I get panic attacks at the prospect of working closely with horrible people.
Ty 🩷 I get by at least. Many aren’t so lucky. It would be better if it weren’t Texas and like everyone believed in vaccines and not coughing on peoples stuff lol! I haven’t had pneumonia or sepsis in years though and I was getting at least pneumonia 3-4 times a year! So, struggling, but alive.
I was a DD service coordinator. Employment is a tactic Medicaid requirement. We are required to document that we pushed employment options. Required to refer to voc rehab. Document why someone is not pursuing employment. It is VERY work focused, to a point of ridiculousness.
Yes, the "work" documentation starts in high school/transition age. I think ppl should work if it gives them independence/pride, but there are some adults who will NEVER be able to work even w every kind of support. They aren't "parasites" as Musk stated. F that guy.
Yup exactly. I work in a special ed high school. Some of kids are dying to work and with job coaching paid for my Medicaid they can. Some can do volunteer work and some will never work. A non verbal adult with severe cognitive impairments is not a mooch.
This is bullshit and doesn't surprise me... They don't think anyone under 21 deserves the minimum wage that WE VOTED FOR AND PASSED! And I doubt they ever enact the abortion bill we passed either.
I kinda like the idea of "work and reporting requirements" for members of congress, state and federal... also, since they receive tax dollars, I think all politicians should be drug tested... I mean, isn't that what they want for everyone else who receives government money? Goose, meet gander.
Drug test all nominees for cabinet appointments. Before they go before the senate for review- before a vote to confirm.
Test will include a breathalyzer.

PERHAPS THAT'S IT.
Cut all their salaries by 20% and
have their work requirement 275 days a year.
Isn't that the same 'benefit' the working class gets?

I work. As my nephew’s nanny. I don’t get paid much at all but it’s incredibly important for how my family functions.
If they enforce work requirements, I have to choose between helping my family and keeping my insurance. That sucks.
MAYBE THOSE SEATED IN THE LEGISLATURE SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT THAT.
