I have to give a short presentation to the board and my dean said there won't be space on the slide for cat pictures and idk if that meant "definitely don't do it" or "find a way"

I think maybe, they can peek around the frame of the middle slide and be the transition image of the last one. Tell the dean, you managed to squeeze them in without affecting the integrity of the presentation.
Pictures is plural. What he’s saying is, there’s only room for one cat picture on the slide. If he didn’t want it, he should have been more specific. 🤷🏻♀️
Would the cat pic get them to pay attention while I beg them to fund my thing, or would it make them think I'm not serious? They're business types which means they're basically ETs to me
Honestly? No cats. You want your slides to be clean, no images unless they specifically pertain to your thing. When presenting like this, I like to hand out physical things to give them something to do with their hands.
I want to also give some advice. My prof in business law always promoted the 7-7-7 rule. 7 slides (not title and citations), 7 bullet points, and 7 words per point (as a minimum, though I usually do a few more words tbh). It makes sure you don't bloat the presentation and still get your point across
7 bullets per slide? That's pretty busy. I prefer to put the basics on the slide and speak to it with details in the appendix or supplemental materials. Of course, I don't talk to business law people. My audience wants to get back to running their operation and too much on the slide will lose them.
Whoops I meant to say 7 is the max, not minimum. Yes 7 points is a lot, especially if you're having more than 3-5 words per point, but it works for an action plan sort of situation.
the whole thing can be cat pictures with text on the side. extra points if the cat is a breed or doing something or wearing something related to the text.
if you’re gonna put cat pictures make the final slide before the bibliographies a thank you for sitting through this and cat pictures below it, unintrusive, rewarding and people will remember it.
Kinda sounds like a dare to me. Put in simple line drawings that are one shade lighter or darker than your background so they're barely noticeable. If the dean wants cats, the dean gets cats!
Challenges, challenges! That just means you need dto hide cats in every slide for ppl to look for. Don't even mention it. Just take not of increasing engagement.
Generally, I always think more cats are better, but I’m kind of picking up the vibe that the dean may not be such a fan🤗 there’s a party pooper in every crowd
If he said there wont, he meant "There won't be any cat pictures" specifically. Thats how I would mean it. Its supposed to be like this, not this, so do this. I doubt he's looking for creativity as opposed through jumping through the hoops correctly. I'm an old fart, but he's smart, deal with olds.
Cats, so many cats. Cats everywhere! In the slides. In the walls. In formats they’re not supposed to be. Cat bullet points. Cat headings. Cat font. Deliver them the gift of so many cats they’ll throw money at you to stop this plague of feline multitudes you’ve unleashed like a wrathful pharaoh
This is definitely a stated challenge. Accept! Also, the board needs to get their panties out of a bunch and admit they like the lovely little break to gaze at regal cuteness.

Watermark?
Go all out and replace the vial with catnip.
But, maybe, not on the emergency fire escape directions.
Well, if a slide or two of cats accidentally makes it way in there, I’m sure there will be room for forgiveness, right?
