It’s frustrating trying to explain to people how bad it is. Non or casual cyclists just see “shiny new bike path! Yay!” Between the Waterfront’s lies, and how unnecessarily unsafe it is, that it looks nice is even more insulting.
I feel it is an improvement, but it is so much worse than it should have been.
By myself I’ll just keep riding on Alaska as I’ve done for 18 years. With a friend who isn’t as comfortable with vehicular riding, or is just on a bigger bike, yeah, I’ll use it, and be mad the whole time.
The current situation forces bikes through crowds of tourists or a road with no shoulder. This segment seems like it could be open; the delay seems unnecessary.
