Just as a fun thought experiment, who is the worst Republican president or presidential candidate that you would be willing to make PRESIDENT FOR LIFE over what we’re about to get after tomorrow

As a staunch Dem, Dan Quayle gets such a bad rap from almost everyone. I met him in person, and he was such a lovely character, gracious and kind. I disagreed with his politics, but he was a genuinely good man.
Eisenhower. I know most think he’s not that bad, but he did not like it when Truman ordered integration of the Armed Forces. His sending troops to Little Rock was not prompted by his thinking Brown v Board was a good ruling.
Answering the question for the OP. Eisenhower was a good President AND he is the worst Republican I would accept as ruler for life.
Who would you choose to be ruler for life?
Hardly anyone's engaging the actual hypothetical. It's the WORST Republican, not just one you don't like. GWB was a flawed man with awful policies, but he was decent and principled. I'd take a lifetime of much worse than him over 4 more yrs of Trump. Nixon comes to mind as a rough approximation.
Any of the animatronic figures from the Hall of Presidents. At least when one of them malfunctions, there's someone there to acknowledge the issue and repair them, as opposed to the current group of selfish assholes clapping and making donations while they pretend he's just fine.
Easy Nelson Rockefeller
From back when Rockefeller Republicans would have been proud to have Hillary, Kamala or Barrack as VP on the ticket and they'd all be down with the platform
January 6 - Great day to write your Congressional Reps and remind them that Trump led an attack on the capitol 4 years ago, especially if you have a Republican Senator/Rep! We can also remind Republicans all over their socials.
The question was a choice of which R President or Candidate would I take for life over 4 more years of Fat Donny. As my Dad told me before, I voted the first time (Carter). 'Never vote for a Republican, Kevin. They have one goal only - to screw the average working man/woman.'
That would have been my 2nd choice. Ike sounding the alarm on the danger of the Military/Industrial complex in his Farwell address is the reason he was my first choice.
maybe we could just go back to the tax rates in the Eisenhower years. The wealthy did pay their fair share then. Except when they didn't and they probably didn't quite a bit.
W. I literally cried when Obama was sworn in for the joy of W’s bye bye. Well shit howdy, he was nothing compared to the invertebrate cheeto boy is. Now I cry every day.
A fun question but the entire party (yes, this includes Saint Mary Cheney) is absolutely vile. This includes every single one of them. I'd check out before giving these racist traitors a lifetime appointment.
Since Truman was president when I was born, I’ll go with Eisenhower. I don’t recall him being bad, but I was a child then. Since, every single one has been horrible.
None. Nobody. Never. This is a silly exercise to play because nobody should ever be president for life. And thought exercises which encourage people to think about who they'd accept like that, are thought exercises that creep us further toward the end of democracy and rise of fascism.
Accepting your premise, the only one I'd consider is Mitt Romney. He's 79 and looks like he'll live another 10 years. (His dad lived to 88 so that's probably in the ballpark.) I'd trade 10 years of old Mitt for the next four years of madness
My previous worst President was George W.Bush. He was incredibly worthless and incompetent. But, on the plus side, he has always been a dedicated Texas Rangers fan.🤔
I'll take lifetime incompetence over pathological malignant narcissism.🥴

GHWBush because of Barbara
Who would you choose to be ruler for life?
Nice guy but at least he had Dan (potatoe) Quayle.
President for Life? Romney. That might be survivable.
Absolute worst choice? Nixon. We might be left with just burnt cinders.
Eisenhower.
*(would be considered a flaming liberal by today’s standards)

But we'd need to also re-incarnate Norm to play him on SNL

GW
He will absolutely do criming, when president. Je still has state-level trials pending.
And no, Although SCOTUS has now advised you how to commit crimes legally, Trump will not listen to this advice.
Snh he might not survive next 4 years, he is obese and old.
John McCain?
John Kasich?
Liz Cheney?

The only people I'd even consider, if such a thing were an inevitability, would be those who would reject the premise.
We don't have kings in America even if Abraham Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt would be better than Trump.
