I just looked at the replies on a random tweet I posted (something I don’t usually do). The extent to which Twitter has devolved into such an unmitigated cesspool is beyond comprehension. Like, holy shit.

I had a similar experience. Like, woah. It’s pretty much 4Chan now, but everybody has a blue check.
You can really tell how much it’s stuck in their craw that celebrities and other verifieds were for the most part left-wing. Elmo made a town where every Nazi gets to be a star now.
I left after Elon purchased it- about the time he was spreading Pelosi’s husband lies! I was out! And best thing I did! !!! Really was getting tired of MTG being in my feed every day!!
I’d spent the last 4 years blocking obvious trollbots (was up to almost 112k by the time I left), which was the only way to post anything without being swamped by negative/hostile replies. The bot farms are out of control on Twitter.
Haven’t you closed your account yet? I’m happy to be a statistic and let musks investment tank even more. Just leaving it for the right to fight among themselves and be a carbon of truth social. Without an audience they have nothing
Just leave. Announce you're shifting to other platforms, and never look back. Elon has destroyed the platform and propagates misinformation into everyone’s feeds
Part of it is bots, and part of it is that the worst people are constantly boosted on the platform. It wasn’t great when Musk took over. It got a lot worse after.
Glad you’re here. I posted something on X before the election that probably had me viewed as pro Kamala. Within 24 hours I was followed on X by the owner. Creepy.
Actually insane. We all knew it was a flaming pile of garbage before but having this app to contrast it seriously blew my mind. We’ve become WAY too accustomed to just dealing and navigating through the mountains of bots, lies, disinfo, and negativity that we completely forgot what normal looks like
I wonder whether it’s inevitable with growth or the result of poor moderation. It seems like most every platform inevitably becomes overrun with misinformation and right wing sentiment. 😩
I just looked at Twitter a couple minutes ago.
I had replied to a journalist's post. EVERY REPLY TO ME WAS AN INSULT, and a couple people noticed my profile pic so they said awful things about Ukraine too.
I am saddened because I joined Twitter in 2009, but Twitter right now is a vile cesspool.
My "For You" page is mix of stuff I want see and MAGA shit I have no interest in. It's not safe there. As soon as most, if not all the artists I follow have jumped ship, I plan on deleting twitter.
You won’t get as much engagement here, but what you get will be real ppl who want to support you and hear what you have to say. It’s a site with depth/quality engagement, way better💙
I left twitter the day that I saw people replying and mocking a hispanic family that passed away in a house fire in my area...calling them illegal immigrants with no evidence. That was a few months after Elon took over and I haven't been back since.
Every single of of your posts will have dozens and dozens of hate messages. It's kind of depressing to look at posts from liberal canadian politicians.
Yeah I turned notifications of comments from people I didn’t know off years ago and I looked back on a few before I fully left and some of them well. One questioned why I wasn’t wearing a suit in my photo. It was in front of the Bundestag on vacation.
It’s terrible. If not for the unfortunate (but hopefully temporary) lack of sports journalism on Bluesky and Threads, I’d be gone from there entirely by now. Alas, Jeff Passan only breaks MLB news on Twitter—for now, I hope.
You’re right. This seemed inevitable after he started shaking down users for the 8 bucks for check marks, then promptly devalued them as they were adopted by an avalanche of bots and bad actors.
Originally he didn't want Twitter. He wanted to fight the purchase in court. Probably realized his "free speech absolutism" would primarily help the right wing. Earlier he felt threatened by California's stay at home order during covid, which would have closed down his factory. He's held a grudge.
I think most people knew he intended to influence the election with the platform, but they thought it wouldn't work so well. The stupidity of the average American is always underestimated.
I wouldn’t say brilliant. It’s incredibly easier to corrupt, poison, and tear down than to build. From Tesla to Twitter, he rides on the success of others but can’t actually build anything from the ground up.
It has become actually quite EXTREME. No one listens anymore on there! It’s just a bunch of hate being spewed. We need CONVERSATIONS. Critical thinking, acceptance, desire to learn, to be better, and be smarter not “harder”.
It’s basically 4chan now. I’m glad everyone good is leaving. Let’s make this platform a positive community 💗 Anyone who follows me, gets a follow back 🫶🏻
First thing I did the day after the election is to lock down my acct
I wasn’t going to be the target of their gleeful bullshit. It was already horrific
I really used to feel like like it was a true community, and although there were always some awful ppl on there, it was always grounded in a community of common sense and it was also hilarious and fun. Twitter ten years ago was such a refreshing place to go for a laugh. It's sad what happened to it
It's kind of unfathomable to me we as a country tolerated and even elevated it as the "domain of free discourse" on the internet. Like, why? Convenience and institutional inertia?
Really hoping this place can grow and realize some of its potential.
Just joined BlueSky today and was so glad to see you are already here. It's gotten so bad as of late. I really only use it for sports and world news. Hopefully BlueSky will soon fulfill both those needs
It’s crazy also how quickly it happened. Twitter always has had issues but prior to Musk there was at least some moderation and bot prevention. But that stuff has been completely gutted for blue checkmark engagement farming
Can't believe how refreshing it is that I found @bsky.app and the followers I had on Twitter are also here. I am done from getting any Musk tweets and his right wing thugs.
My son still has an account. I told him to delete it and come over here. As soon as the oligarch bought Twitter, I was done. Musk’s plan all along was to destroy our platform.
When I think of 4chan I think of psychopaths who would laugh at dead bodies, and yes, it has become so disgusting where no decent person should tolerate it.
I couldn't stay anymore to "hear the other side." I can debate rationally all day but no, they are unhinged and full of rage. Let them scream at the walls and it'll fizzle out.
It’s so bad now. I had to close my comments shortly after Sissy Spacex bought it because the constant harassment and abuse became intolerable. And it’s not all bots either. People have no filter anymore over there
People have no filters anywhere anymore- you should see the vile memes and things I was called because I didn’t know I was dealing with a maga (old friend) AFTER he won 🤮
Yeah I have long covid so I got called mentally ill every 5 seconds. After HE won my DMs were filled with random dudes who used to be on my old OF calling me a whore??
Judging from Threads & BlueSky, the mass exodus from Xhitter is in full swing. We must all vow to keep both forums decent & disinformation free. Polite dissenting opinions are fine, but feces-flinging monkeys should be shown the door.
If we let Leon have his way, America will look like X in about a year. And its GDP would fall by 85% … just like Twitter did. Hey, we would then be having an economy not bigger than Russia’s, which probably is the plan all along…🤬🤬🤬🤬
And it worked perfectly for him in getting his preferred candidate elected. Feels like the joke was on us. He’s not hurting for cash and owns the right-wing ecosphere now.
Assorted random insults,
A dozen parrot bots / useful idiots all posting the same ‘ talking point’ (with no variation to ease the tedium ), A sea lion
Two engagement farmers
5 ads for pointless crap.
And some terrifyingly un Christian ‘Christians’
Yeah, it's bad. I don't look at the replies for half the posts unless it's one of my geek crowd. It's just bot and troll accounts calling each other names back and forth. Extremely childish and tiresome.

Or being forced to guzzle poison and battery acid.
the MAGA Cult. That is why I am phasing my acct out.
I have much more meaningful exchanges on Blue Sky.

Seeing profane words, also hearing them, really hurts my spirit; not some self righteous thing for me.
It seems to be a little better, here.
#DecencyMatters

Different vibe here too, it's like that refreshing cup of water after waking up
nope nope noped out of there.

This is much nicer :)
