a warning from EU- a risk of state-owned rail is that, in the absence of shareholders, the service user is prioritised- leading to dire things like ample luggage room, non-conflicting provision for disabled users AND pram users, a play carriage for kids etc leaving little to complain about. Awful!

The rail journey over the last 30 years has been quite remarkable. We’ve gone from ‘British Rail is awful’ to ‘Bring back British Rail so we can improve our rail services’.

A prime example of why privatisation isn’t the answer.

My issue with all this, is that far too much of the problem, is the ALREADY NATIONALISED network rail which has been run down and starved of cash.
All those delays and cancellations down to track trouble, signalling and points failures?

Network rail needs to be nationalised. Nationalised railways can't run properly on private tracks. Having said that there are far fewer major accidents now.

It would relieve traffic coming in on the Portway (which is in the Central constituency), which is a major source of vehicles coming into Bristol.

In all seriousness. GWR is *fantastic* compared to Cross Country. Trying to travel north from Bristol is an overpriced, overcrowded service with shitty trains and worse customer service. Please do focus on this... I use both services a lot and Cross Country makes GWR look like the Orient Express!

Well I wouldnt call it a rip off when GWR do a weekend ticket going out friday coming back monday cheaper than a daily return to London. Also dont forget Cross Country and South West railway operate from Temple Meads
