I didnβt know until I was in my late twenties, early thirties that in the original story Marley was only one person thanks to the ridiculously catchy musical bit βMarley and Marley, WHOOAAAA!!β π΅π
Iβve literally been part of at least a dozen individual productions of A Christmas Carol and have obviously seen all the major movie adaptations, and the Muppet Christmas Carol is without a doubt THE BEST version of that story. It is perfection.
Technically itβs not an βextended cutβ, it is the original theatrical/VHS version. When DVDβs happened, Disney decided to cut Belleβs song out as they thought the pace of the movie was too slow for kids and this shorter version has become the βnormalβ (although inferior) edit.
Yesterday I learned there are ADDITIONAL verses to some of the songs because my daughter was listening to Marley and Marley on Spotify and although I've watched the movie roughly 1000 times I heard lyrics I'd never heard before.
So now I'm adding the soundtrack to my Spotify Playlist.
One of my favorite movies. Nobody does Scrooge better than Michael Caine.
"Keep the spirit of Christmas in your heart all year long."
Charles Dickens was "woke."

Micheal Cain IS Scrooge. No one else ever gets it just right for me.
And my kid speaks like 10 words of English, so I guess I have to wait a bit longer βΊοΈ
