The 09-10 Dem trifecta did not pass legislation with urgency. The 21-22 Dems did, but did not understand "we passed the bill" meant "we rebuilt." If you don't have actual state capacity and won't attack GOP judicial/procedural ratfucking. Maybe we'll get it right in 29-30.

But. Trump and Musk have recently completed multiple actions that most people would have considered absolutely unthinkable only a few weeks ago. What about that behavior makes you sure they won’t take other actions over the next couple of years that effectively guarantee they will retain power?

Yes, I’ve been thinking about this. Even if, best case scenario, Dems win the Presidency in 2028 and take the House and Senate, it will take at least an entire term to rebuild what is being dismantled. We’ll need to bypass the normal bureaucracy, but in a democratic way. Urgency!
