Joly, Anand, and Trudeau have all impressed me. It's because they are the competent adults in the room. No rage farming. No slogans. No stupid postering. They know their files and speak in a straight line.
I've seen a ton of stand out Ministers and Premiers in the last few months. Joli, Blair, Ford, Furey, Kinew, Eby, LeBlanc... what I haven't seen is a single CPC member on Team Canada. Not. One.
All the CPC does is attack and scream about everything being wrong vs. actual politics. They've taken a page from MAGA and now it's biting them in the arse.
I've been a fan since she assumed the Foreign Affairs position. I'm especially of her work building strong ties to Europe which under the circumstances has become extraordinarily valuable.
The Trudeau cabinet has been for the most part outstanding. Ms Joly and Ms Anand have stood above most. The PM has also spoken for us all well. Good job all.
I was just saying the same thing the other time. She has been strong, her English has improved immensely, and she is speaking with the passion that a foreign affairs minister should.
Could you imagine a Carney PM with Freeland as Finance, Joly as Foreign Affairs, Anand in a key role and others?
Both things are true. Every single one of them earned their positions based on hard work and merit AND Trudeau and other men in his government did quite a lot of work to peel away the thick layer of bullshit they would have had to contend with in a different government.
I don't think it takes anything from them to note that they were given a extra level of protection and assistance specifically to deal with something **that should never have been their problem in the first place**.
I can appreciate that Trudeau supports women without believing he deserves a medal for what should be basic decency. On a post praising a woman in politics, there is no justification for folks kramering in to remind people that she wouldn't be where she is without a man "lifting her up".
Sure, but you know what? It’s been his government. He is Joly’s boss. He ultimately wears the results of his Cabinet picks and their performance. He’s not being praised for basic decency he’s being praised for doing an important part of his job well in a way his predecessors mostly didn’t.
Like. I get what you are saying. The Justin Trudeau, feminist hero narrative can get really grating really fast. I was pretty over it by 2017. But if we’re talking legacy, and we are right now, it goes on the positive list, yeah.
But at least Trudeau recognizes their work, knows that they are competent leaders. Unlike the orange shitstain who thinks that anyone without a peen should be in a kitchen.
As a woman, nothing the person wrote implies insults towards the women or implies they did earn their roles. Why are you inserting nonsense comprehension, with the comment you dropped?
It was their hard work, merit and intelligence that got them their positions….trudeau just wasn’t a prick overlooking them for only men to hold to hold this jobs.
The first time I saw her was during Trudeau’s first press conference on the tariffs. I was mesmerized by her! She gives great face. I read and learned a bit about her and admire all of her accomplishments.
‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Add intelligent, well spoken and diplomatic to that quote and you’ll find a picture of that amazing Canadian 🇨🇦💪. Elbows up Canada.
Minister Ng has me impressed. Minister of Trade for a very long time, never shifted around, and now Trade is up 50% over the best year under Harper, and it's not just US centric gains, it's export gains around the world.
Yes. Very much so. I hope she stays in politics. She's got steel in her spine for sure, and I suspect plenty of people never expect it because she's also very pretty.
BBC interview is one of many intl media interviews Joly has done to warn the 🌎 silence on Trump's malicious attacks on 🇨🇦 won't protect them from being targeted. Building intl allies is a smart tactic. Hopefully France is next!

The thought of a conservative govt trying to replace the strength and experience of the current liberal ministers handling this crisis sends me into panic. Worse would be the US interfering to get them elected believing the’d have less resistance with a bunch of new weak inexperienced fools.
Right?…...
Can you imagine if we had a Conservative government right now with fools like Lantsman, Cooper and Ferreri talking on behalf of Canadians. *Shudders*
Hpw do we know it's working towards annexation?
Germany, 1939. False border issues with Poland created by the NAZIs culminating in the start of WW2. The only ones who seem to have forgotten this fact IS Americans.
If she were running instead of Freeland, she, in my opinion, would be neck and neck with Carney. She's straight talking with good communication skills. Super sharp.
Agreed. She seems to do well when times are tough, I thought she did a great job representing Canada’s support for Ukraine in 2022. If I recall correctly I think she visited Kyiv a number of times relatively early on in the timeline of international leaders going in person.
What impressed me most was that she was a good candidate for the Liberal leadership. She chose to stay on and do the job she has been doing so well. A strong consistent negotiator.
Her interview with Christiane Amanpour was great. She’s obviously very smart and well-informed, but better than that she can articulate it in a way others can understand.
Yup. When I watched her cnn interview, I thought -damn she could be a good Lib leader. Really glad she has found her groove in politics and that others see it too.
Sometimes diplomats are just kind of "ordinary", but she is impressive. When she spoke of not going through things with Trump every thirty days, and the look on her face, as an American I was thrilled. She's smart, clever, not putting up with BS. Love to listen to her stand up for Canada.
I clearly never paid enough attention to her before so I didn't have a strong impression of her or the quality of her work but that is rapidly changing.
In a recent interview with Rachael Gilmore, Angus explained that his riding has been resized to the point where he can’t serve his constituents the way he thinks they should be, and that he got a first hand look at how the NDP leadership sausage is made, and he’s not going into that kitchen again.
Joly won my enduring respect when she told Canadians she would not seek the Liberal leadership because she had an important job to do as minister. It quelled speculation and showed her commitment.
The strength of liberal cabinet ministers is 2nd to none. Joly, Anand, LeBlanc, Fraser, quietly serving, and when the rubber hits the road, they are stellar.

Brava!

Watching for down the road.
Seems like almost every prominent national and provincial politician, ranging from Wab Kinew to Doug Ford, has been playing a constructive role.
Pierre Poilievre and Danielle Smith are the glaring exceptions, appearing irrelevant or wise.
Conservatives = traitors!
Trudeau has been fantastic and has allowed people in his party to flourish - Joly, Anand, Freeland, Miller, Holland...
Can anyone name one person PP has lifted?
Has anyone else noted that PP is standing completely alone in every video?
The Premiers have also done well.
Could you imagine a Carney PM with Freeland as Finance, Joly as Foreign Affairs, Anand in a key role and others?
The point is they weren't ignored or dismissed because of their gender, as has been happening in The States.
You guys just have a much better quality of leader up North.
Whatever you do, don’t copy us - we’ve lost our collective mind down here.
Money ruined everything.
She’s an asset to #Canada ❤️🇨🇦
I completely agree!
....and I, unfortunately, live on the wrong side of the border.
Whereas the conservatives continue to attract bottom feeders….

She’s been AMAZING! She speaks precisely, forcefully yet with great dignity. She helps make Canada proud.

Strong women. Either could be our PM.
I think they are amazing and will follow their recommendation.
