saying i'm trans, getting people all "hmmm i don't think so, i think you're [something else]" YEAH PROBABLY BUT I GET TO PICK THE WORDS I FEEL DEFINE ME

Other people who do that are seriously boring and unfun, and also have terrible fashion, and everyone talks behind their backs about how they hate it when they show up at a party
As a public figure, you're above what lesser people could think about whatever you define yourself as, Sire. Let me get unreasonably aggressive and loud the moment they have opinions no one fucking asked them for.
Which is why the fuck I fight for people to get informed consent. Some dumbass biased shrink doesn't tell me who I am or am not. It's my mind, my body, not your fucking decision
Sorry, I didn’t reply with much context there. Words sometimes less good.
I meant I agree, also there’s usually a reason people who are technically bi might call themselves a lesbian, so don’t hassle them.
agreed. source: I own a male dog of a girly breed and I've seen how effortless it is for the "I'm trying, it's a big change, give me time" people in my life to completely and consistently change pronouns if they actually want to.
They are SO RESISTANT to it, the shit I've got from people who are supposed to love me. And people who've not spoken more than casually to me in 15 years challenging it because I 'wasn't like that' back in 1998 when we were actual friends last
I guess when I was just a "transvestite" there was less chance I would ever require them to make a real mental adjustment and I'm finding the limits of people's willingness to accommodate new ideas (ie none)
yep! which is why I guess that stupid transgender vs transexual discourse is popping off today too; people cannot STAND when others are defining themselves how they wish in ways that do not map with what they see as acceptable
It's a combination of what I suspect is actual CIA psy-op disruption campaigns to damage LGBT unity, and people's selfish need to valorize their own struggles at the expense of others', a tendency that has plagued the LGBT movement in the US so badly that I have basically given up on it
You must have your viewpoints explained to you by a dipshit who can't read social contexts to save their lives, otherwise they'd be out of a job and we can't have that!
"there might be someone somewhere pretending to be trans who isn't really" is a mind virus, I swear to god. no one who gets fixated on that idea will ever be capable of a normal thought ever again
I've been noticing the predator-handshake-meme potential between regular mainstream transphobia and "the transphobia is coming from inside the house" transphobia for years and it sucks
"Hmmm, who would know better, the person who actually lives in that body, or me, a random stranger with zero context? Yeah, I'm definitely the expert."
nothing like going on a months-long or years-long journey, discovering your identity (be it gender or personality), only for Someone Who Met You 5 Seconds Ago to declare that they know you better than you do yourself
Frankly I don’t understand how someone could follow you and read you as cis. I never did. When you came out recently I was taken aback - because I thought you were already out.
You're firmly in the "cool, didn't realise they weren't already out" category for me, if that's helpful? Sympathies on the people being dicks about this, and WOO HOO YOU ARE TRANS AND YOU ARE GLORIOUS!

LIKE I BEEN SAYING
seriously the people who react negatively to stuff like that need to go outside
I meant I agree, also there’s usually a reason people who are technically bi might call themselves a lesbian, so don’t hassle them.
They have to sit with the idea that their favorite writers may also be the people that they’re told to hate
Oddly enough, now they're actually trying.

Real talk: you understand yourself better now than you did a quarter-century ago.
Go. Be the authentic You. That's what matters most.
I've only known for like, four years. And figured out I wasn't straight five years before that (comphet).
I'm kinda envious that you had stuff figured out at that age.
(I hated, *hated* the way I looked the entire time I was growing up. Dysphoria happening even if I didn't know what it was.)
