I wrote a nonfiction sports book about competitive advantage. I think it’s funny after talking with readers some time that they get the theme, and I usually get some kind of related story that I was not familiar with. It’s a great icebreaker.

It’s so great to talk to readers and see their point of view. Sometimes they bring up stuff which I would have never connected, or thought about to be important, and it ends up being the thing they wanna talk about the most!

Most of my books are poetry books but my more recent ones are history-related and tell fact-based stories of people and events. As a dad of two daughters, I enjoy talking about the many strong/independent women who don't always get their stories told. Abigail Adams remains one of my favorites.

I used to write poems for my wife when we were dating and got decent at it. My very first book was some of those poems with new ones added (Love Poems for My Wife, published in 2013).

This is huge! As a kid, I was mesmerized by Marie Curie. A FEMALE scientist! At that age, I was led to believe she was an oddity―a rare case. Now, I know that so many women have contributed to science and other areas of progress. We just don't get to learn their names.

History has a bad habit of erasing women. Climate change, for example, was predicted by a woman 200 years ago from a science experiment she ran in her kitchen. The guy who "discovered" it later is often the one who gets credit though even though we've known about Eunice Foote for some time now.

I'm always on tenterhooks for comments or questions about my majestic zorses, the zarath'mai! They have such vivid personalities and features, and they are so central to Rama'adoran culture! They're the equivalent of the cats of Ancient Egypt, the elephants of India, and the crocs Down Under!

Absolutely everything about my world.

I'm a world builder first, author second.

I built the world that my first novel is set in for a decade before I even started writing.

It originally was a homebrew setting for a ttrpg that got out of hand as I couldn't find a group to play with. 😂

I think for the most part it would be how the protagonist of the story seems to be the only human in a universe filled with diversity and chaos, where Earth and Humans are (almost) entirely unknown, and is seen as a curious oddity, if he's taken notice of at all.

Talking dragons & warrah, witches, trolls, and elves (did you know that elves ears don’t turn pointy until they are adults?) and lots of magic. It’s cloaked to keep the outside world away.
