Back on Twitter I recall people like Imani Gandy criticizing some "leftist" podcasters for their lack of directing their audiences to actionable groups to get involved with & instead were just directing their audiences to help fund their endeavors. I think about that a lot.
It’s not good enough to fight against what we don’t want. We need to fight for what we want. This means after you beat the fascists you keep fighting for what you want. Because it ain’t never gonna be business as usually again. At least for a while.
Resistance, and rebuilding democracy, is a lot of hard work, risk, exhaustion, heartbreak and sometimes, celebration. Are Americans ready? Some. Enough? We’ll see.
At least alcoholics tend not to insist that the alcohol is good for them, that it is making them healthier and better. They say least have the sense to be ashamed of their painful need to consume
The resistance need to have more tooth than a bunch of self-righteous talking heads. There needs to be grassroots organization. There need to be protests, strikes, civil disobedience. This isn’t a game you can watch on your phone, goddamnit!
This is the full quote, I think...You cannot buy the revolution. You cannot make the revolution. You can only be the revolution. It is in your spirit, or it is nowhere.

Great piece! The hard part to reconcile is that the Right-wing media world is even bigger, more unhinged and griftier, and that was really effective. I guess they were better at driving action (e.g. school board takeovers) and even personal transformation - lift weights, take supplements, and MAHA!
Who is this "we," you're talking about? The Democratic center-left's "we" are members of the PMC, the political version of HR and the corporate director class. Those are the "we" who own the party and won't let go. The rest of us need vastly better reasons to even want to call ourselves Democrats.
Reminds me most recently when my community felt threatened. NRA corporate was looking at relocating the headquarters to my community. News got out and spread quickly. A protest was scheduled. It was hot outside but we suffered the heat in standing room only.

You mean the people incapable of leaving Twitter until two years after it's bought by a Nazi?
So far, they're unwilling to inconvenience themselves in the slightest.
