Sitting in my office now, and it's like 17 degrees and snowing outside. It reminds me of being in junior high, and spending countless hours on days like this holed up in the computer lab with friends, trying to beat each other's scores in bowling, mini golf and dozens of other games!
On a related note, one day we wasted an entire evening building cars out of junk and used them to jump over more junk, for the last time, and none of us realized it.
After this launched, Keebler tried to create their own game site, Fudgeadelic -- all games about the Elves and fudge. I worked on it for about a year but it was never launched. The only screenshot I have is from a demo of the fudge-surfing game we built.
Even though the fudge-surfing game was their idea and they approved multiple demos, it was canceled (along with most of the site) because apparently some executive saw it and sent the note that "Keebler fudge must never touch the ground."
One of these websites - or neither, I cannot remember - had a Home Run Derby game where as a batter you just hit home runs and occasionally one would break a car window and alarms would go off. I played that one a lot. Decent graphics, nice sound effects. Harmless fun. That's easily been 20+years.
It was 100% Candystand. I loved the home run derby—it was so satisfying. The sound effects are permanently stuck in my head. That and the mini golf… I also enjoyed the 9-ball pool.. just absolutely legendary early Internet. I’d pay good money to get them back.
I miss the fun and silly advertising of the old Internet. No motive here but to get you to look at the LifeSavers logo for an hour or whatever. Now you would have to verify your driver's license and sign up for texts before you could play and golf balls would cost $1/5
I swear I remember some weird maze game where you had to avoid literal Y2K bugs. Ate that one up as a kid, heh. (Or was it Nabiscoworld that had that? Can't quite remember)
Man, the early days of the internet were always so fun and full of personality, nowadays you would be incredibly lucky to even have something like this nowadays.
It's insane how high effort these were for browser games. The games are archived but there is DRM on them. So you have to do this weird process to get them running.
I play Creme Savers Bowling on my laptop (thirding or fourthing the recommendation for Flashpoint, I also play the old Teen Titans games from early 00s Cartoon Network) when I need a break from work for like, five minutes. Best thing ever.
We lost something special during the internets evolution. Candystand was my very first website. My dad had it written down for me on his desk in his "computer room" so I could go type it in the address bar and be terrible at mini golf and the lifesavers skeeball. And that Indiana Jones type game.
I sank more time in programming class than I care to admit into the Creme Savers bowling minigame as a loser teenager. This place just called up some seriously long-dormant memories for me, thank you.
Back in the day when we were supposed to be paying attention in class, my friends and I would play pool on candystand. The really fun thing about this site is that it supported local multiplayer, so you could play with your friends instead of just random people on the internet.
I miss plenty of my childhood snacks! Can't name them all!But here's some!
Nabisco Melody, Pride Cookies, Tom's potato chips,Toms Cookies,Drakes Creme Cupcakes.
Chocolate Cubes
Treat Potato Chips
Scooter Pies
Kits BB Bats Mint Juleps
Let's discuss the waking nightmare of a hole that mini golf screenshot is from. I spent too many hours in front of my CRT monitor in college getting irrationally angry at that one green.
Download Flashpoint for your computer, which allows you to play old Flash games that have been archived on their site. A lot of these games are available!
one of my fave childhood games was (i think) on this website! iirc you controlled a lizard who ate lifesavers through different maps and tried to not fall. i think about it often and i fear it’s lost media

I’m playing Space Cadet Pinball on an XP VM, and going on The Old Net.
I'd never had a Creme Saver growing up. But goddamn if I never forgot what they were.
Had some non-game stuff too, if I recall? I think that's where Piggy & Puppy was serialized.
I used to play the SHIT out of that Creme Savers bowling game.
