I did that last fall and the bee landed on me and I didn't move or freak out and then it stung me! I've never been stung in my nearly 50 years and boom it did it. Then fell off and began it's death and I was like "dude what the fuck? That was straight up bee suicide"
nah, I'm an old beekeeper, so bees are not a reason for panic, but when they randomly land on me, it could be because I've been sweating and they want to collect some salt 😘
Love this! I am totally changing my perspective from now on. I’ll be crying in pain when the bee stings me but at least I’ll know that for one moment in time I was mistaken for a flower. So cool! 🌸
Sooooo, this summer we planted wildflowers in our front planters. The bees loved it, but especially the poofy, chubby bees. One landed on me and....I touched it's butt. It didn't move at all, but just chilled out. Here's a picture of one of them. 🐝
Those big Japanese wasps we got when Covid hit aren’t even aggressive anymore now that they’ve settled in! I think they were just stressed from the migration over here. Because they fly around all curious and friendly like most honey bees now. We can get close to the nests with no issue too.
Many times! I have been an avid gardener for 50 years and the first time I ever got stung by a bee was in my early 60s. It's only happened once. You just stay calm and they move on.
Oh, if that happens to me, they instantly get a name: ...well, good morning to you, Miss Marjorie Whittlesby-Futterpants! And how are yoo this fine day?'
I do it with wasps, too, but they come across as less impressed at the attention, so I tend to end up feeding them jam and quietly backing away.
We used to have an insane amount of rose of Sharon shrubs and the bees were always all over the place by our front door and never not once did we get stung. They’re just on a mission and want pollen. I 🩷 bees.
My uncle kept bees and he'd put me in one of his work shirts. Never stung and they let me touch them. Good thing as I'm allergic. If they sting, they die so they must be scared if they do. Never kill one! The rest will attack.
most bees are not aggressive. especially honey bees and bumbles. the only bee/wasp i hve ever known to be aggressive is a yellow jacket wasp. dont hurt the bees.
I've never thought about being mistaken for a flower, but I don't freak out when a bee, wasp, or hornet comes near or lands on me. I learned that if I remain calm they don't sting me. I haven't been stung in thirty-some years.
“As the New Year begins, I hope my story and my daughter Sabrin’s story reach those who can help. My little girl was born in the midst of war and now lives in tents with nothing. Save her and give her a chance for a better life. Please contact me or share this message to reach someone who can give🍉🇵🇸
I taught my kids to appreciate and respect bees. We regularly sit to watch them whenever we find some.
I've had a bee land on me while out on a boat. It was clearly exhausted, so we brought it to land. It did not get irritated or sting during the entire ordeal. It was a great experience for my kids
This is what I tell students when we are outside and they see a bee they are scared of buzzing around. I just tell them the bee must like the nice colors they are wearing, and they aren't trying to sting anyone. Can't say it helps with all kids' bee based fears, but it does help some kids.
No, that never happened. But what did happen was that one landed on my 4yo and he didn't stop screaming (or running) for at least two minutes. I'm pretty sure the bee went deaf.
It depends on the bee. I don't mind bumblebees or honeybees landing on me, I'll usually talk to them until they decide to leave, but wasps and hornets are where I draw the line! Lol.
Fun fact, those big Japanese wasps we got when Covid hit aren’t aggressive anymore. Now that they’ve settled in, next time you see one just watch it. They act like honey bees in the curiosity way, and they also no longer chase when you run. They’re actually quite friendly. Wish the native ones were.
Oh, sure, this is helpful. Now, I can replace my fear of being stung when a bee comes near or lands on me with the fear that it may not find me as pretty as the other flowers. #AmIPretty #AmIPrettyEnough #BeeRejection #StungbyRejection
I always say hello and suggest said bee visit the rosemary hedge. They always agree and buzz over to the blue blossoms.
One must maintain a cordial relationship with the local bees!
Out sailing one hot day and a bee landed on me in the middle of the lake. Pretty far from land. I thought he just needed a place to rest before continuing. He crawled around on my hand for about 15 minutes appearing to lick the sweat off my hand. Then just took off. I named him Henry.
🐝 you’re probably right! He needed a rest and he likely was blown off course and never intended to be that far out over water.
I do all I can to help my local bumble bees. They’re becoming increasingly rare.
This is beautiful! And thank you for being an #Alt-textChallenge Champion!

As I am allergic, my first reaction is panic. Had 3 of them keep coming to my table at an art show yesterday. Found an empty cup and walked them to a nearby potted plant to “redistribute” them.
Well, especially bumbles, not being inclined to be sting-ey anyway. not that I figure I dress much like a flower even to their visual spectra. Carpenter bees on the other hand, might hover around sometimes. :)
We're gardeners and beekeepers. Our kids were taught from a young age that if a bee lands on you, just stay still and say "I'm not a flower" three times. Usually by then the bee has moved on to more tasty landing spots.
No not allergic. I kept honeybees for a couple years and would get a sting once in a while. Was also a rural mail carrier and would get a wasp sting or two most years.
Yes, I have. And then I didn't move because I'm a like a deer in headlights. Also honey doesn't expire due to- *goes on a three hour tangent about bees*
Yep, right up until she invoked vengeance upon me for disturbing her nest, then called in her sisters. I survived, I think. They really are marvelous creatures.
Early in the season, especially when it is cold I sometimes find bumblebees on the windowsill, tired and barely moving. If you bring them in for a few minutes and offer them some sugar water in a teaspoon they perk right up and fly off.
I was not asked on a second date because a dude trapped a bee in his ketchup cup. He went to the bathroom and I cleaned off the bee and set it free. He that was a little much
Never scared around bees, both my grandfathers kept bees so have been around hives throughout my childhood, I'll pick them out of water and blow dry their wings and let them revive in the sun. Bees are the BEST! 🐝💗
Unless they land on the back of my neck, we are always cool. Love bees. I don’t even mind honeybee stings that much. But, let’s be clear; wasps are bastards.
Yep. I welcome them landing on me. I've never been stung by a bee. I'm 53, been stung twice, once by a wasp (my fault - I stepped on the poor guy), & once by a yellow jacket (because they're dicks). I ❤️ 🐝zzz!
I’m an aviation mechanic, now and again I’ll see a bee in water. I pick them out and hold them as they do their special inspections for total immersion and dry out run on their wings.
Bees have always confused me with flowers and I'm tired of it because I have a lot of allergies and have never been stung by a bee, so I have this fear that one will get startled and sting me and I'll turn out to be allergic. I have anxiety disorders.
I will try to remember that while I am screaming, or passing out, or holding my breath and squeezing my eyes tight. However, short term memory can be a struggle at my age. 🤷♀️

Me now: Meh
I prayed for bees and treated them like the royalty they are.
Wasps can also be pretty chill if you just act like they are not there.
bees are around.
They like me. I grow flowers.
Partly for them, and they know.
I do it with wasps, too, but they come across as less impressed at the attention, so I tend to end up feeding them jam and quietly backing away.
and how about butterflies? they seem to love me too...
BTW, anaphylactic shock gets zero stars. I really sucked. Just be nice to the bees and move slowly
Thanks for that!
I admit I didn't much care for the time when I wore a rose-scented moisturizer and bees followed me ALL over the park. But once in a while it's sweet.
And to be caught unexpectedly in a swarm is just profoundly mystical.
It wouldn’t leave me alone but
I was so happy to see it 😎
Just sayin'.
Since then, I have no fear of bees, paradoxically. I’ve sat in a garden and had them fly all around me, and even tended a dying bee. Love 🐝.

In the bee's defense he was swinging at it prior. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Here are some bee butts, just bee-cause.

I like the thought
I said I appreciated it thought I was a flower, but I had to apologize for having nothing to feed it.
Very good.
So they could bug me all they like , it’s fine 😁
Have several nests around my property
I never had time to think that deeply while about to get stung.
But I like the way you think!
Never again.
I have almost blasted through customers like the Kool-Aide Man to get away from a potential bee in the store.
