I have an 8bitdo Ultimate controller that I've been using primarily for a while. The charging dock lets you plug the 2.4Ghz dongle in the bottom as pass through, so picking up the controller automatically powers it on and connects it. Love that feature.

I upgraded to a Xbox Series controller a few years ago, and honestly that D-pad feels way better than it has any right to. Probably the nicest feeling thing I've used to play a fighting game with, outside of, say, the NGPC thumbstick.

Yeah I’ve had my Series X controllers for years no drift at all. They’re perfect. And I love the d pad!!

8BitDo is my fav 3rd party controller company though. I have 2 controllers from them as well.

I just bought an 8 bit do ultimate 2c last week and it seems to be good! Every single official Xbox controller I've bought developed stick drift after a year or two, so I'm going Hall effect controllers only from now on.

The d-pad would be my biggest complaint. It's not as good as an original Xbox one. I wouldn't play a fighting game with it, but it seems fine otherwise.

I’ve had one for about a month now. Love the feel. The d pad is decent. The only thing I don’t like is the actual buttons. Hard to explain but it seems they have a lot of travel that leads to missed inputs for me.

Some fairly rare false diagonals but otherwise it’s solid, I do wish you could remap the back buttons without a pc though. Fwiw if you’re cool with clicky dpads I really like the Series controller, it’s pretty accurate and I used it as my main pad for fighting games for a while without issues.

Oh yeah absolutely, it’s a minor complaint really and I only use the controller on PC anyway 99% of the time so the app is only a click away but it could be a little more convenient.

I personally like the Playstation style Pro 2 controller from 8bitdo just a bit more, but they’re both good options. Also depends if you want 2.4 ghz and bluetooth or just bluetooth. I’m a sicko who likes the Xbox Series contoller d pads as well though.

I like it, but the triggers don't feel as good as most other analog triggers I've felt. Otherwise the D-Pad is exactly what you'd expect, and it works on PC like a charm.

Oh, I forgot to mention: It has hall effect sticks, so it won't get drift anywhere near as quickly as any official Xbox Controller. In fact while this is anecdotal, the last time I bought a series X controller, the A button was broken right out of the box. :X

Dont fear the Series X d-pad its an upgrade to the One controller dpad. It isn't the 360 dpad its just a more comfortable version of what the One had.

I like the 8bitdo a lot. It's comfortable to me and it has a good d-pad. I like the Xbox Series controller a lot too, and the d-pad is actually pretty good outside of fighting games. I just think it's uncomfortable for fighters. Given the choice between the two, I would take the 8bitdo though.

If it's the trigger buttons you use a lot (racing, shooters, etc), it's probably the weakest part of this controller unfortunately

It's got a great feel in hand, the d-pad is quite responsive and I have no complaints with pretty much everything else!

The biggest complaint I have about this one is that the handles are straight down, and not flaired out like the Xbox or PS4/PS5 controllers. I found it slightly uncomfortable and made me hold my wrists at an awkward angle.

been using this to replace a dead Xbox Series X/S controller- shockingly enough considering how it (X/S I mean) looked, I actually really liked the d-pad on it! Definitely more than the Xbone one and even more than the 8bitdo one. Minus some LB/RB sticking, I think it's great.

I can confirm the D-Pad on the Series controller is basically the same as the One controller's D-Pad, despite the different, more Sega-like shape; still as clicky.

What Shadow Hog said is pretty dead on- if you liked the One d-pad it's more of the same, except I found it even easier to hit diagonals with precision on. Aaaaand now that I'm talking about it I'm growing resentful of my 8bitdo Ultimate's d-pad!!!

If you want one of the best D-Pads ever made, I'd highly recommend getting your hands on a Sega Saturn controller. Avoid the crappy retrobit repros and get yourself a converter for a real Saturn OEM controller or one of the SLS controllers. 8Bitdo's M30 is also pretty close, albeit not exact.

It's a very good controller, it's my main one for switch/PC use.

In Bluetooth mode it's recognized as a Pro controller, but with the dongle it's an Xbox controller.

Sometimes the stick can be locked in a direction, but circling it fixes that.

Haven’t bought this one but I have bought other 8bitdo controllers and they have been great. Word of warning is the controller you linked isn’t for Xbox consoles. They have another one that looks just like it but it has the big Xbox symbol button on the too center of the controller.

Not what you asked for, but I gotta add +1 to Series d-pad comments. I hopped from One to Series after face buttons on One died, and plate d-pad actually felt a lot more responsive and precise. Switching to DualSense after that was pretty rough.
