This is how my son learned to crawl. Our cat would sit just out of his reach, and he would inch towards her. He’s almost 15 now, and she’s been gone for a long time. She was a good cat.
Marsha wanted to "pet" the cat.
The cat didn't want "pets" from Marsha.
If only Marsha had listened to her parents and drank more Ovaltine she would have been taller with longer arms and long slender fingers that could have reached the cat.
That was me at that little girls age. As soon as I knew there was a cat, or even better *kittens*, I was the worst. Thankfully, I know better now and cats rarely do this to me anymore :)
My cat does this every time I pet her from my desk chair. Once she's had enough she gets right out of range and trolls me. Usually cleaning where I scritched
Some of my cats have hidden underneath the bed when there was a vet alarm. Exactly in the middle which is just where I can't reach from either side.
My sugar boy always sat right outside my reach when I got out his sugar testing kit. Just for a minute to show me he could 😂

Remember kids, drink your Ovaltine!
They are so soft! And they have a motor!
You are most generous.
I love her
By itself, it just screams "I like to be abused."

Little human's response? "Reach!"
Yes, baby, yes you did.
