They said, jointers can remove your fingerprints pretty cleanly. They grow back the same as the old one after a few months. IIRC it took about 3 months for my Touch ID to recognize my affected fingerprint again, but it did without having to update it.
Yep, it was a deep cut and the fingernail might not grow back but the finger is mostly intact. Might have some long term nerve damage in the very tip but not the pad.
half a nail in my case from my thumb - it regrew mostly since...
didnt hurt much until I had to wash it and disinfect it... it hit me then like a horse kick
I have a phobia about fingers and toes being harmed like this. I am so triggered right now. As my uncle once said, "The pucker factor is off the scale!" Heal quickly!
Iβm generally pretty paranoid, but all my concentration was on my right hand (which was feeding the material through with a push stick) and it guess I took my attention off my left (which didnβt wait for the blade to stop spinning before reaching for something).
Oh my, Josiah!!! That looks very ouchie! Iβm so sorry. Please take very good care of it for the best healing possible. When I broke my littlest toe I was amazed at how much one small space can make the whole body hurt so much. Sending healing prayers for you.
Oh, gosh! Glad you didn't lose the finger. My husband is missing the thumb on his right hand, has a partial index finger and is completely missing the ring finger on his left hand from two separate table saw accidents. "Use the guard," I said. "I'm fine," he said.
We buy 50 lb blocks of a meat mix for our sled dogs in the winter and cut them up into snack sized chunks with a band saw. I had a close call that resulted in stitches (I wear heavy gloves) one night when I was tired. Never again.
My uncle Billy (and yes, he was every stereotype you can imagine of a good ole boy from South Carolina) used to say he had fractions on his fingers. The way he told the story, he skipped church a couple Sundays, and God rewarded him with easier math.
Thank you. I feel dumb more than anything else. A silly rookie mistake (reaching across the saw the moment I shut off the saw instead of waiting for it to stop spinning).
My mom says that my grandfather had the exact same injury on the exact same finger, though, so maybe it's just hereditary?

Hope you're okay!
My brother in law has a similar finger but his was a press of some kind when he was working in a machine shop.
but, seriously, hope you are ok
Wishing you a speedy and full recovery.
(Which is frustrating, because I do have to finish the project at some point.)

So sorry, man. That is pain.
I'm skipping church today to rest, and debating whether this is worth using a sick day for tomorrow.
Wonβt make that mistake twice.
Seriously I hope youβre ok.
Hope your finger fares better than that.
Apparently my grandfather injured himself the same way in the exact same location.
But seriously hope it heals quickly!!
It hurts but is mostly numb for now.

I hope it all heals super fast!
