The independent regulator has announced a £2,500 pay rise for MPs.
At a time when disabled people are facing the biggest cuts to disability benefits on record, this is simply wrong.
I’ll be donating mine to charities supporting disabled people in Coventry & across the country.

Remember SG’s freezing of cabinet pay..?!
Showing that MPs can act in the interest of their constituents. I only wish mine had as much spine as you.
The working man has no representation in parliament. I don’t envisage ever voting for Labour again. Literally no representation these days.

Maybe the people should decide on pay deals…..
This is performative nonsense.
Total cost of the pay rise is £1.5m
Throw in the second jobs most have and they are making good money and have no need for a further pay rise.
How do you come to the conclusion they don’t deserve it?
A few (mainly Tories) fiddle expenses, but for most the expenses go towards office expenses.
I agree the rules should be tightened up, but don’t let the media’s desire to foment outrage overrule reason
Families on benefits only allowed to claim for 2 kids, the rest don't matter
People with disabilities, don't matter
Pensioners needing winter fuel payments don't matter
but . . . .
MPs with good salary and taxpayer funded food and drink!! + other benefits are awarded a £2,500 pay rise
🤔
If so, my commiserations 🫣
One reason why I left.
Can MPs decline it?
This is a storm in a teacup - our politicians deserve to be paid well. We need many billions of pounds to fix our country, let's focus on where that comes from.
You deserve to be paid well, imo MPs pay should be much higher.
Take the money, you earn it.
Please indicate which group of disabled are struggling?
There are many, very capable people who would have to take a massive paycut to become an MP, their skills should have influence on Policy making.
They're already distant enough from the lived reality of the average citizen.
All your salaries should be doubled.
And all 2nd jobs and working as consultants or lobbyists should be prohibited forthwith.
Rank hypocrisy!
Worked well for Jacinda Arderns Labour gov during COVID when her gov took a 20% pay cut in solidarity with the people.

Inflation is at 2.8%, it doesn't change based on your salary.
then we might attract people with more competence .
but this is the way the political game is ,
they hold all the cards and the majority of us jump when told to do so .
Robin Williams was right politicians should wear jackets with their sponsors on the back. Like NASCAR drivers.
Politics is "politircks", it is de-evolved. Government as enemy.
