More than half of disabled people with daily living needs in parts of England and Wales could lose out under planned cuts At least 50% of PIP daily living allowance claimants in ten constituencies could lose this benefit www.bigissue.com/news/social-...

£357m in carer’s allowance benefit paid out in error in past 6 yrs by govt officials. Innocent people chased for debt, face anxiety, hardship, prosecution threats. Govt taking powers to remove money from benefit claimants bank account. A cliff edge approach to benefits must be abandoned.

#MECFSAwarenessMonth – Day 21 2021: After a comprehensive review, NICE finds all evidence for Graded Exercise Therapy and CBT to be of low or very low quality. GET is found to be harmful and is no longer recommended. CBT is downgraded to supportive use only.

📈 Today rail fares rise by 4.6%. ✈️ Rail trips are on average twice as expensive as domestic flights. 🚆 We could tax air travel fairly, raising billions to invest in our railways and bring down fares, making the green option the easiest and cheapest option.

Successive UK govts have attacked the working class - benefit cuts, power to snoop on bank accounts of benefit claimants. How do they treat the rich dodging taxes, hiding assets, engaging in illicit financial flows? Evidence is damning. Watch the Minister's reply. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZev...

War on the poor. If the DWP makes error and overpays certain benefits, the Bill allows Ministers to recover money from the claimant’s bank account. No court order is needed. What if benefit claimants can't afford to repay, or face hardship? No equivalent law for fraudsters and scammers.

350 richest people and families in the UK have wealth of £772.8bn. Free to pollute, create bubbles in housing/security markets; buy political parties, legislators, shape laws; power to control our lives. 16m live in poverty. 128,000 a year die in fuel poverty. archive.ph/xNvPk

The Public Authorities (Fraud, Error and Recovery) Bill gives the UK state unprecedented powers of surveillance on the bank accounts of the poor, old, sick and disabled people receiving benefits. You won't be told, can't appeal against it and no court order is needed. Are you ready for it?

The line-up for Horror Studies Now @horrorstudies.bsky.social is looking really great! research.northumbria.ac.uk/horrorstudie... I’ll be presenting a paper on the Thursday ~ “Rivers of Blood: Racial Capitalism and the Emergence of the British Asian Vampire” 🧛🏾‍♀️

150,000 people will have benefit payments cut by DWP under PIP changes. Not accompanied by assessment of the human cost of arbitrary fiscal rules. Why pick on the disabled? Tax the rich.

Median UK annual wage for employees is £30,252. Net pay of £25,301 attacked by corporate profiteering. Hard to survive, raise family even with two wage earners. 1% have more wealth than 70% of the population combined. Can't revive economy without boosting purchasing power of the bottom 50%.

See the data, understand the truth. In this in-depth piece, Liz Crosbie examines the surge in PIP claims, demonstrating why proposed cuts would be a cruel and misinformed policy. Find out more:

Keir Starmer denies pushing anti-migrant policies in order to chase Reform, saying that "I'm doing this because it is right, because it is fair and because it is what I believe". A reminder of what he said he believed when he was running for Labour leader.

Somehow the "lesson" learned from elections is always anti migrant, and never (for instance) changing the govts *incredibly unpopular* policy on disability benefits. This is about the desires and instincts of the political class, not the electorate.

"The changes will also end automatic settlement in the UK after five years" the way this is expressed, in an article about *visas*, is unbelievable. a £3,029 fee for an application which can be rejected is not "automatic settlement". dismal reporting on dismal changes

Better trade, a place to call your own, decent social care, freedom to live where you want, food security, economic growth, a functioning health service: quite the list of sacrifices we have to make for Labour to try and stay in power. And do nothing again.

Labour aren't fascist, they're just removing trans people from public life, and deliberately consigning hundreds of thousands of disabled people to an early death, and monstering trade unions, and appealing always and only to the electorate's most coddled racists, and trashing our universities, and

This is the report that Wes Streeting committed to 'implement in full' within hours of its release. #DawnFosterWasRight

Metro Bank plans £60m bonus for bosses, irrespective on performance. Ultimately paid by high charges to customers, staff/wage cuts, branch closures. Govt removed cap on bankers' bonus. Govts tells workers wage rises are inflationary but silence on exec remuneration, dividends, share buybacks.

It really seems to me like a major hesitation for making #UBI happen is that those in power, and their donors, want us to feel the need to pay for the basics like rent and groceries, or there is less incentive to work for the wages they're offering. That's very clear to me. #BasicIncome

Just get the Tories out they told us

This is excellent: "Enough is enough" - Marit Stafseth addresses the Oslo Chronic Fatigue Consortium "...they ignore all facts that do not support their theory..." "...It's as if the conclusion was written in advance..." #MECFS #LongCovid @meforeningen.bsky.social

#MECFSAwarenessMonth – Day 10 2011: The £5m PACE trial claims CBT and Graded Exercise Therapy are effective treatments for ME/CFS. It’s widely condemned as deeply flawed and later cited as a case study in bad science.

Yes, forget the winter fuel allowance. That's small fry when you compare it to the outright cruelty of the two child benefit cap, the disability benefit cuts, the endless additional tax burdens landing on ordinary people who work, employ workers or pay for services. Where's the social justice gone?

We’re all being robbed paying exorbitant electricity bills determined by gas fired power stations. @cmmonwealth.bsky.social are calling for these plants to be nationalised to stop price gouging.

NEW: Internal DWP figures show 700,000 families *already* in poverty are forecast to be hit by planned disability benefit cuts That's on top of the 250k+ who are predicted to be newly pushed into poverty by the changes By me, for the Guardian: www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Private equity looting the NHS. Five firms - Newmedica, Optegra, SpaMedica, CHEC and ACES made £169m profit from cataract contracts. Profit margin for NHS work is 32% to 43%. Highly leveraged firms. Public purse pays their interest charges. Public money buys less. Privatisation ripping-off people

The #LabourParty have fallen very far from their original core values. This is the party which was, originally, part of the movement to unionise and ensure people were not exploited in the workplace. Awful. @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social

What is a woman? Defining “woman” is not a simple and straightforward task, easily resolvable by resorting to the science of biology. Instead, the biology of sex defies a binary classification of all individuals into neat categories of “men” and “women.

🧵 ~ The FA has got this wrong an ALL levels. This blanket ban makes no historical, scientific, ethical, legal or social sense. It is not proportional to the harm it will cause the UK’s most vulnerable soccer players. x.com/kirstimiller...

Allies! We need you! Following the Supreme Court ruling, its vital that everyone stands together to support the trans community. We've launched an ally section on our website, full of simple ways you can stand up for trans rights - right now! 🏳️‍⚧️✊💗https://buff.ly/NDrqbMk

Keir Starmer under fire from Labour MPs after byelection loss to Reform UK. Starmer was the only party leader not to visit Runcorn. Toxic? Busy purging the left, alienating traditional supporters. Must ditch Tory policies. Redistribute, end tax perks of the rich. Abandon disability benefit cuts

Low/Middle income people save in bank/building soc accounts. £1000 interest tax-free for most basic rate earners: £500 for others; rest taxed at 20%-45%. Rich buy second homes, arts, securities. £3000 capital gains tax-free, rest taxed at 18%-24% for most. Class war embedded in the UK tax system.

France wants to make one-off wealth tax permanent. It is based on taxable real estate assets worldwide, rates vary from 0% to 1.5%. Brought in €2bn for 2024. Hope Rachel Reeves is watching.

The UK's National Insurance Fund Account has a surplus of £86.4bn. It supposedly funds pensions and benefits. But benefits cut, two-child benefit cap, winter fuel payment cut, the 1950s women denied pension rights. Raided for Tory NIC cuts to the rich, NIC holidays in freeports.

Alternatively you could fund councils to provide regular bin collections and have good local recycling and waste disposal facilities.
