i'm getting turned down for interviews for entry-level things which is a bummer BUT i have a novella being shopped around and a few other projects in the works as well as one regular writing gig so even a couple dozen new members would make a big difference!

it's kind of scary to realize i'm not building up any savings, much less investing in a retirement fund in my 30s but since no employers seem interested in me it doesn't make sense to keep chasing that lifestyle right now

there was a moment there where it looked like i was on track to have some kind of career in media, be able to afford to live in ny and put a little money away, etc. but media doesn't really exist anymore. gotta do my own thing

I was writing regularly for an alt weekly where I thought I had a future - until the owner was a sex pest and the paper closed. I searched for years and couldn’t find another media job. So now I’m a housewife I guess. I was lucky to have a partner to fall back on, but it still fucking sucks.

Trimmed down my monthly bills as much as I can and have managed to make a very tenuous chain of things pay my bills and keep me in the black (most months) and housed

Very similar outlook on chasing any form of 'stability' considering the current state of the world

I keep wondering how I'm able to live on like $1400 a month and the answer is partly that I'm not and owe the IRS a few grand from unpaid freelancer taxes but also in NY when I was working full-time I was paying $700/mo health insurance, 35% freelancer taxes, $1500/mo rent, etc.

I am lucky with my situation but it's also a tomb lol

Taking care of my mum but other than her the house is a bit of a den of narcissists. I take a lot of psychic damage but it's better than rent.

I need to start doing creative work again but I've kinda just stalled out of exhaustion
