I do think it's funny that the dems thought bernie was an existential threat to them, rather than being their only option to salvage what remained of liberalism. looks pretty dumb now doesn't it
Only looks dumb if you avoid the fact that establishment dems win big either way and they'll keep making big money while the rest of us our in camps or worse.
i don't think there was enough time for one given the way US elections are built
honestly, just naming the VP as the replacement was probably the best option given the circumstances, and that's a pretty damning indictment of everything leading up to the decision being made
There was plenty of time if they didn’t spend the better part of four years gaslighting everyone that Biden was fit for office for another four hours, let alone four years.
Handing the nom to Harris evokes “it’s her turn” of 2016 and we know how well that went.
for the record, Biden taking as long as he did to say "no I'm not actually going to run for re-election" is 100% within the category of "the circumstances"
he took so long that every option was shit, letting the currently sitting VP take his place was just the least shit of those still possible
keeping the weekend at Bernie’s [sic] thing going was probably not going to happen but should have picked someone who did a ok in the last actual primary at least
what's the american expression, monday morning quarterback? ahh well you would say that now. try to win the election. well we couldn't have thought of it at the time.

And now the US is lost.

Clearly the cheaper option is going to deliver better value to the Democrats shareholders*
