twenty-five years ago- after trekking around in Asia- I’d set off to do some European backpacking- with some the worlds greatest libraries as sort of home-bases.

A few years later back in Japan- I met a girl in a small town bookstore- we’ve been married for 20 years and have twin teenagers. 📚

Make sure to know your children's school librarian. They are usually highly trained professionals who are educated to curate a collection for their specific demographic of students. These collections will support curriculum, but also the child themselves.

Please be aware there are many schools out there who cannot afford to hire one that has been trained with degree in library science. They are expensive and often one of the first things to go in a budget crunch.

That was/is exactly my plan. After Trump’s election, I drifted for a while, watching way too much news, until I came up with a plan. I began collecting books to help me make sense of how we got to this point. Set up a new small bookcase to hold them. I plan to read 78 this year. It’s helping.

there are Abe’s, thrift books and other used book vendors. When my wife was teaching, we would buy 20 copies of old, out of print books. It was fun putting runs on booksthey ones readin twenty years. (Find a copy of, “Everything but Money” by Sam Levenson- a good chuckle!)

I suggest people follow my lead: COLLECT books for the generations to come. AmeriKKKa is likely to be a white supremacist country in the next two years and books we NEED to read won’t just be banned, they’ll be unavailable and illegal to own. I’ve collected a few 1000 of these. Glad I did!!
