I have several auto dealerships as clients. They are beefing up their used inventory like crazy right now. I think this is going to backfire epically on this administration.

I think there's misunderstanding on this, unless it's me. The tariffs are on foreign cars. US carmakers don't charge the tariffs. But if all your foreign competitors now cost 25% more, why not raise your own prices by 10-15%? You're still cheaper than the foreign cars and that 10-15% is new profit.
Some parts can be tarrifed a couple times moving back and forth across the border before it even gets into the vehicle. Then the whole vehicle is tariffed when it crosses the border. Nice scam you got there!
Domestic cars will cost more to make too, thanks to the tariffs on steel and... god only knows what else. I don't think any car is sourced and built 100% in the US anymore.
So even if manufacturers don't take the chance to price gouge (lol), car prices will still go up.
