Don't buy from big chains who screw the communities they're in, support local business who are stuck paying obscene rent for their business. 43.2K a year for a business I was looking into... said, no thanks. He said, "It would take the "right owner." What, to screw the public with higher pricing?
We just joined Costco, bought a 21.3 cubic ft upright freezer and filled it up. That freed up space in our dedicated mini freezer for frozen Bil-Jac dog food (11 adopted rescue dogs). Just supporting your observation.
Bill Maher is a punk, he’s nothing but one of these.. Bill Maher what a fucking piece of shit, seriously I bet you his ratings go down on CNN people hate a motherfucker that kisses other peoples ass. He’s talk so much shit about Trump and then he went down to Florida to suck his dick.
If youre going to laud what Musk is doing, you need to pay closer attention. Adding AI surveillance to all state dept employees, supporting AfD, great replacememt theory, fking up sw left and right, when you act like he's a fellow "bro" just cutting costs you act as a salesman for him
Like how do you say "yeah he's just making cuts" knowing the mistakes theyve made, and lying about putting back what "was an error" (angered their own supporters). Ex. They never put back ebola funding.
Some parts of the government still write shit down, fax it, then type it back into another computer. Yes, it can be secure but I've seen plenty of those kinds of faxes, rarely with anything that couldn't have been sent in an email.
If you can do it, buying things like toilet paper, paper towels, and toothpaste in bulk will help. They don't expire. But, you also need a place to store them and money (right now) to buy it. So it is not straight forward as it sounds.
If you haven't already done so, get your pantry, cupboards and freezer stocked with as many nonperishables as possible.
It's also a good idea to stock up on toilet paper, paper towels, bottled water, and possibly gas for your vehicle.
I am in the Toy industry and Vendors are canceling their overseas orders right & left. Some retailers are frantically buying inventory now for their stores. But a lot just don't have the cash flow to do it right now. Small Vendors & Retailers really fear this will be their demise.
Mark thank you for this information. I tapped in and it something I'm going to have to take the time after I finish a work project to read. You care about people. Thank you for all that you give to others to help them succeed.
I started in Nov: t paper, paper towels, kleenex, trash bags, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, hairspray, body soap, sink soap, dish soap, dishwasher pods, coffee, aluminum foil, splenda, coffee, ibuprofen, allergy meds, batteries, menstrual products, canned good. Buy in bulk & on sale.
We will #BoycottRepublicans going forward. VOTE THEM OUT. Every single one. In every state.
Let them know they’ve done enough damage. From firing essential workers to destroying our 401K’s…dismantling the Dept of Education to old diseases making a comeback…El Salvador imprisonment. #BoycottGOP
Democrats must recognize that Republicans have skillfully exploited the U.S. political and legal system to undermine democracy. If Democrats do not swiftly adapt, they risk facing significant and lasting setbacks. It’s imperative to learn from Republican tactics and respond effectively.
Importers are abandoning their shipment at the US ports. Now the ports are overflowing with unclaimed shipments. Will cause shortages of thousands of items, and sky high prices on the few items you can find. Apparently, Trump does not understand how the import biz works.
What do we do Mark? Honestly wtf do we do? How do we protect the most vulnerable? How do we get out of this recession that’s about to hit us in the face?
Who tf can stop this nonsense?
Don’t want to pay for tariffs? Buy local (Made in the U.S.A.).
Want to buy an import but not pay tariffs?
Buy a Toyota Tundra or Tacoma (100% manufactured in San Antonio, TEXAS).
I replaced all of my major appliances and electronics last year. I also purchased a lot of shelf-stable food. Even before the election I feared the worst.
Shelf stable milk, powdered milk, coffee, vanilla, flour (all kinds) oats, beans, lentils, ghee.

Scheduling as much preventative care as possible
As a business we purchased over $6,000 worth of supplies early. We are set through summer, probably. But this means that we don't have to buy anything but perishables for the next 3-4 months.
Here’s a plan. Not buying anything at all except for the bare minimum. Cancelling vacay plans. Fam already decided to have a minimalist Christmas. I have no confidence in US goods or services moving forward.
Prices go up, while income stays stagnant like it has for the past 40+ years of no raise in the minimum wage. Regular people always get screwed by BOTH PARTIES. minimum wage should go up every year! It would be $25 now if BOTH PARTIES CARED ABOUT US!
Yup keep wages the same while people in this country are making billions a second. Spending billions on golf trips, plane rides but they need to get more by insider trading and robbing literally everyone. It’s a fucking hoarding disease. No different than those hoarders on that show!
Yes, my husband and I both bought new iPhones and iPads in December in anticipation of Trump using tariffs to destroy the economy. We had older models and needed to replace them anyway, but had intended to wait until later this year.
We also stocked up on consumables.
China has the US by the balls with trade. They can get everything we export to them from elsewhere and/or then stop our exports of food by saying they are “bug riddled” or GMO. I don’t think we can say their IPhone are bug ridden unless they come with TicTock pre-installed. Right?
I just kinda feel like Trump & his evil cohort learned how people stocked up during the pandemic and liked what they saw - all that spending. So they’re forcing it to happen again.
We have been planning to sell our home of 30 years and move overseas in 2025 for many years.
We bought things for the pre-move upgrade like new doors and a spiral staircase yesterday.
We were not planning to do this for a while but, Oopsie, tariffs!
I'm very frightened of what the housing market.
Building a house in the NE which should be finished in a couple months. Just ckd with the retailer of the appliances on any word from the manufacturer about price increases. I can't buy now as the delivery window is 30 days. My big worry is selling this house in the midwest for my asking price. ☘️
I'm trying to get a bit ahead on imported foods (coffee, chocolate, olive oil, etc.). I've also spent some money on socks (LOL) because I understand they're mostly made in China. Will probably look to pre-buy a couple pairs of sneakers for same reason.
I run a store for an E.E. university department. I checked the latest list of exemptions. There are a lot of discrete electronic parts included, the kinds that American manufacturers need to build things like automobiles. He's destroyed any leverage we had with that reckless blanket tariff.
So the tariffs are on but no money has been taken because the tech infrastructure is not ready. Sure it is just a matter of time until Musk has x take over the system.
It’s going to make it look like we’re in an economic boom when all people are doing is stocking up in anticipation for what is terrible. And these idiots are going to think that oh our economy is doing great. Look at the company making profits.
Instead of stockpiling buy necessities for the next 3 months but BUY MINIMALLY for the next 3 years. Save ALL the money you can, be ready to help friends and neighbor-the elderly and vulnerable populations. It costs very little to grow & can your own produce, drink 64oz water & walk 30 min daily
Bought a 110 year old (good mostly renovated) home in August. But there are things needing replacement or repairs. So we replaced washer/dryer; bought raised garden beds to reduce food costs; extra furnace filters; dried beans & containers; outdoor table. Holding off on the rest.
Low income have no discretionary $ to spend in the first place. middle obviously going for must have items, they are trying to hang on. Higher end earners might only get to take one vacay not two in coming year. And the wealthy, maybe only fund 2 of their next generations, and not 10.
The first thing I did when “It” got elected, was head to Costco and buy toilet paper and paper towels, as one does when a dictator gets elected. Then I started stock piling everything I use, and bought a freezer. I’m an apocalyptic thinker, plan for the worst, hope for the best.
As we saw in Covid, stocking up just throws the supply chain off it's wheels and wreaks havoc for commercial business. It's the antithesis of stability that a president is supposed to provide.
It's difficult getting goods into the USA at the border because of the confusion this has created. Changing the position of the goal posts every day doesn't make sense. Businesses need consistency to predict costs. This administration isn't providing conditions to help businesses with this.
Oh I was just planning on smuggling those when I run low. KIDDING! Marco Rubio, if you are reading this, I'm kidding, this is parody. I didn't stock up on meat or toilet paper either...or did I? Not going to say, proprietary business information #entrepreneurship
This is what happens when you allow someone to manipulate the markets, if you or I did insider trading we would be in jail, on the other side you have MTG committing those things and apparently untouchable, he has vowed the SEC completely

A self inflicted global depression real fucking great maga dmfks. All in the name of the elite and globalist billionaires(not you Mark) stealing even more wealth from the working human class. We have to unite against these fascists and organize. Vote and force your three closest friends to also
The sinking dollar is the best reason to buy any imported goods. The influencers in the admin have made public statements the dollar needs to be weaker. Investors around the world read those statements. Cope how you can.
I am eating new foods. TJ is a good company if available.
You can’t tell me he is smart enough to rock the market on purpose. This is a purposeful tanking to prove his tariff “beliefs”, despite practical historical precedent. Bankruptcy is what he does best.
My family spent money on rain barrels right before the tariffs went into effect. Last month I ordered a raised bed garden. We are hunkering down now and, other than necessities, we are not contributing to the economy.
I made a substantial purchase in buying a large new raised bed and the soil to put in it, and I bought some seed-starting supplies. But, now I have a bunch of seedlings that I'm hardening off to plant next weekend: tomatoes, peppers, squash and snap beans. Worth it, imo.
Yeah. Not everyone is in the position to grow their own food. I am foraging into my first attempt. But I also recognize I have the privilege to do so given my backyard and resources.
Off grid living since 2017. Garden, orchard, 100% solar. We can live on natures bounty like our ancestors did. It’s healthy working a garden & you will know exactly what you’re eating.
Hubby and I bought wood a month ago and built a raised garden bed. Today I put in bush bean & carrot seeds and onions. My friend started peppers, lettuce, cucumber, snap peas and tomato plants I’ll put in later. Victory gardens are the way to go. Too bad I can’t grow and roast coffee beans!
I pulled the trigger on an NVIDIA GPU that's manufactured in Taiwan on the day Trump announced the tariffs. I knew it would either be impossible to get or double the price if we waited.
Find a way to reuse products, make your own and grow your own food and exchange with others. take yourself out of this economy now. don't give the billionaires another cent. try to start your own business so you aren't giving them your labor either
Deportation is an actual legal process that includes due process. If they're not giving people due process, it's not deportation, it's as you said, kidnapping as well as trafficking. I'm sure a lawyer could come up with more things this guy will be suing over.
Immigrating is more of a process than strolling in to a country and making yourself at home. Pick a country and try it. Try it in Mexico and see what their due process is like
Trump took a legal permanent resident and deported them without due process. That's illegal in most countries. Due process is a Constitutional right here and, if it can be taken away, none of our laws matter and if it can be taken from one, it can be from all
The court system designed to hold trial for millions of people at the same time. How much would it cost to hold a full trial for every single border crosser and how long would it take?
We tried to speed this process up by YEARS but Repubs voted that bill down so blame them. Our system is adequate to support it's need. We can't possible eject all illegals and very few ppl actually want to. They pay taxes into a system they don't get any back from.
Assuming he’s alive, we are speaking of Mr Garcia right? His lawyer hasn’t had contact with him, the governments lawyer hadn’t been told anything by the government (which sounds guilty af to me), they claim it’s impractical to bring him back, 5hr flight.
Kinda hard to argue the impracticality of bringing him back when Noem can fly down there with a camera crew and a hair and makeup crew to film a propaganda video. She could have just brought him back with her.
Taking all of that into consideration, can Trump even logistically deport the 20 million (especially since we don't have 20 million) illegal immigrants in four years?
I think he needs to be somewhere around 15-20k deportations every day non-stop to hit his promises.
I actually think he was probably dead before him being gone was a national discussion. So, the family will sue and if he's dead, also for wrongful death and probably a few more things a good lawyer can think up.
If he wasn't dead we would have seen at least a photo of him by now. I hope he's ok...
I don't know about that stuff, just that if he was still alive, there really wasn't any reason for Trump to balk at this one person and still not having him, imo means he's dead. At the very least they have to bring him back for due process - those planes fly back empty so it's not a logistical prob
After the election I started looking at what we could feasibly provide for ourselves. Pet food was a BIG snag. We take care of 13 cats and 2 dogs, and cats HAVE to have meat in their diet.
I started buying a little bit extra each month, to slowly build a cushion. Will keep doing so.
Agreed. I stopped shopping at Target and Walmart, and 99% of purchases from Amazon. If I can't find it in a small business, grocery store or thrift shop I don't need it
If, and if, you have extra income to spare. Covid tested supply lines and wallets - they survived. trump regime testing wallets only and they will not going to survive...
But for all other goods, US have surplus of goods already on hand and people might hold on to instead of upgrading. I know I will
If you're an avid user of aluminum foil you might want to consider buying a few ahead of time. We have virtually no bauxite deposits of any significance in the US. I'm guessing the price for Al foil will increase dramatically, it's already a fairly expensive item as is.
It ought to be obvious to everyone that the stock market is the wrong way for the world to run the economy.
One man can literally throw the whole world into chaos.
Change the system, it is NOT working for the people.
Easiest way to avoid the effects of tariffs is to lower your consumption! I got rid of Amazon Prime and the result is I impulse buy less junk, order things directly from vendors which generally saves money, or source things locally which is better for my local economy.
I made all necessary purchases before 1/20/2025, as I will not participate in 47's economy and also knowing what was to come. The car I had planned to buy has been put off, as well as major home improvements.
I will only make living and emergency purchases until he is out of office.
That's a problem for companies who face passing along 100% of the tariff and losing business because their product is now too expensive, or cutting profits. It's not as easy as just passing it all along.
The GOP is fully on board with everything Trump is doing. They own this catastrophe and must be held accountable. The GOP can no longer be described as a conservative party: Trump has made extremists of them. Astonishing that their voters haven't seemed to notice this.
The GOP's been absolute 💩 longer than my lifetime. Americans sit around & pretend that a party who gerrymanders the fuck out of 23 states to the point that ONLY the slimmest of chances even exists ANY party can win a seat, much less a majority, is normal. They've NEVER been a party of law & order.
They only believe in law & order for ppl they don't like (poc's) & urban poors, "oddly" the same ppl they think are unlikely to vote for them.🤔
The minute Trump got in office, caseS were dropped against billionaire donors & if the rest didn't think it would destroy their careers, they'd do it, too.
The Orange One has floated possible 200% tariff on EU wine. That is way too hardcore for bougie class & he would get alotta shaming at golf courses were that to happen…. Still I wasn’t the only one emergency buying cases of French wines a few weeks ago.
I’m outside the US and I am expecting lower prices as many American companies try to generate revenue after the US consumers stop buying. They will need to drop prices because many of us are boycotting US goods.
Looking ahead last Dec, we bought all the composite decking boards to replace 1000 ft.² of decking. I’m really glad we did because it’s 20% more now than it was then.
Elected officials come home this weekend for their “spring break” show them love and line the streets to protest. Demand a town hall and if they refuse, hold one in their front yard.
I planned to buy my son’s fiance a new fancy vacuum & coffee maker for their bridal shower & one for my elderly Mom for Mother’s Day & one for myself. (A new AC too)
Don’t want to wait until May or June & pay tariffs. 💰💰💰💰
This dude’s only concern is his money.
He could not give a fuck less what happens to us, and I imagine he would sit there & be just as complicit as he is now.
Look at his history of posts on the kidnapping of citizens and migrants. Nothing - because it’s not his money. It’s just a person.
Save your money. Go minimalist. This administration will screw you out of every last dollar. The only real power we have in this society is to vote with our purchasing power. (RIP fair elections) We have gotten too used to instant gratification and easy money. #coldturkeyconsumerism
I'm old. I don't want stuff and I need less than others. We raised five children. I don't know how it is posible to manage living on the same wages when the dollar is worth less on top of inflation. The math produces a negative sum. It's soul crushing.
I just bought a new computer. It was on my list of things to get, so I got it now. I figured the 145% tariff would either make it super expensive or unavailable. The store had one left of the model I wanted.
The NYT had an article this morning saying an $1,100 cell phone was going to go up by $950 because of the tariffs. A few hours later he announces this. Looks like the NYT is still good for something.
We bought a TV to store back in December in Biden’s economy. It had a great price and our main TV is 14 years old!
Laptops are pretty new & just upgraded my phone last month on a deal.
Stocked up on toiletries and paper products last week & working on canned goods
Trump just exempted smartphones, chips and computers. He blinked because he's a bully who just got punched in the nose. He just needs a way to claim victory to totally cave, is China too angry to give it to him?
He pulled back tariffs on 98% of what everyday Americans use. So basically tariffs imposed on China is a false report.
Computers, phones, most electronics like televisions are all off the table.
Disposable clothes and toys remain.
Absolutely not true!
The number of small import businesses in the US that depend on all the stuff you claim Americans don't use is actually the 98% of Chinese imports Americans buy.
I live in NE TX and REAL PURE maple syrup is really hard to find. It’s like these “native” folks don’t care what it is and have probably never tried it.
Another product, APPLE BUTTER. I mean, seriously folks? I have to order it on line from the “yanks!” 😂
After Trump was elected we had a feeling this would happen. We replaced our 29 year old fridge (that thing was amazing but had started to leak), and our 23 year old stove and microwave. And I just upgraded to an iPhone 16 from a 12.
I'm rushing putting solar on my house. Energy prices always go up, but I'm betting it's going to get a lot worse in the immediate future before it gets better, and the price of solar is going to go up a lot too with the tariffs against China.
My wife and I were needing a new refrigerator, stove and washing machine for a while. We bought right after trump won, remember what happened last time he was in charge? It’s so much worse this time.
I hear you. When Trump won I cancelled my vaca plans for 2025. I bought a washer/dryer, vacuum cleaner and tv which were all going to be replaced in the next year or so. I feel better especially after this week!! Trump is worse this time.
We had plans for a kitchen renovation for 2025. Day after the election we moved forward with those plans and the kitchen was complete before the new year. We knew Shitler would get into office and fuck things up

Since Trump 1, I have used 4x4x8 posts I regularly buy to predict my farm cost changes.
All of 2024: $10.78
March 2025: $10.98
April 12, 2025: $11.48
Very helpful!
Just happened to hit a sale last week at Costco.
A lot of it uses wood pulp from Canada so actually there is a basis for getting a year supply.
