"We seek a strong and lasting peace in Ukraine," French President Emmanuel Macron said. "To achieve this, Russia must end its aggression, and this must be accompanied by strong and credible security guarantees for the Ukrainians."

The military objectives in war that support one's political objectives fall into two broad types: "war to achieve limited aims" and war to "disarm" the enemy: "to render [him] politically helpless or militarily impotent." (Carl von Clausewitz, On War)
The fall of Ukraine into Russian hands endangers all of Europe. The line must be drawn now, especially as Russia will be emboldened with its new cozy relationship with trump. All nations must join forces now.
I feel sorry for Ukraine. I do. But you brought this upon yourself and now, you have to make a bargain between the devil and the deep blue sea. Russia? Or America - who wants 50% of your revenue in perpetuity for your security.
the priority of EU/NATO should be to ensure one thing — that Ukraine gets to decide when there is peace and what that peace looks like. not the russki murders. not the trump ruled United states of crooks and bandits.
Ukraine and Ukraine only decides when enough is enough.
Hang together Europe, & increase support for these courageous Ukrainians fighting for their freedom, independence & democracy. Push back hard against our fascist American bullies. Appeasement never works with authoritarians
Monsieur President,
you talk the talk but by deeds only can you walk the walk. NATO and Ukraine needs your attention and support, France needs to be alongside your European brothers and defend Europe’s sovereignty.
(1/2) The deaths and injuries of Russian soldiers are inherent consequences of war, not punitive ones to hold Russia accountable. If a country can invade another, start a war, then end it when it’s no longer convenient or to be the “peacemaker” and then claim its own losses were punishment enough…
(2/2) …that sets a dangerous precedent. There need to be further consequences that deter future aggression, whether that be reparations to Ukraine, war crimes tribunals, or long-term restrictions on Russia’s military capabilities. Otherwise, what’s to stop them (or others) from doing this again?
Speaking about all the things you mentioned. Know who did all this?
Know who supported it?
Know who watched it all happen during the past 25 years and learned how 'the West' really feels about sovereignty, and justice, and the international rule of law, and human rights?
I know that. But Germany paid $0 of reparations. It was all disinformation.
Re Russia, however, there are lots of overseas frozen assets to take. And a cut of future oil revenues. Not hard. And still enough left over to build a sustainable and free suite of newly independent countries.
My comment about Germany paying $0 in reparations was from a 1990s academic paper (I can’t locate) that looked in the Germany archives to determine no money actually got transferred to Britain. Even through all the textbooks say otherwise. I’d welcome any friendly comments. Others will be muted.
My family is Finnish. I remember my grandmother's worry in after WWII. Finns have endured a LOT of suffering to keep Russia off their backs. Small and poor, they were the only nation that fully paid up after the war, and are among the staunchest defenders of Ukraine & Democracy now.
Defense stocks jumped after EU members were allowed to ramp up spending on defense.

I have always felt NATO should have stepped in after the Russian War Crimes. Push Russia back to their side with force. Russia will not use their nukes. Putin enjoys his lavish lifestyle too much.
The Paris summit, convened by Macron on short notice, reflected growing European concerns that Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin may be negotiating over European security without the direct involvement of European leaders.
No fam, that's too complicated. We're gonna need you to fork over $500billion worth of rare earths as a starter. Also, we want Warsaw and Paris. Sorry.
EU and Ukraine MUST be involved in peace talks or they’re for naught. If US thinks Ukraine will go for some crappy deal brokered by felon and putin, they’re delusional. It’ll be as bad a deal as felon brokered with Taliban without inviting Afghanistan to the table. A disaster made by felon!!
The have lost but yet they keep going on . While they are talking their talk Russia an US are dividing the Resources in Ukraine This is what happens to gutless countries and they had many chances but yet resort to just talk I give it 5 years Europe will be under Russia's Control
AND!!! Russia must pay reparations, including the costs of the military expenditure by Ukraine's allies and not some 'trump'ed up idea that Ukraine hand over its minerals and such.
Russia are the aggressor. They must pay for the damage. Return all kidnapped / removed citizens too.

I belive putin will not stop until he can fight no more.
We're almost there.
Take out the remaining refineries and OIl storages and the problem will solve itself.
Appeasement leads to war.
The only question is, what side will we be on.
Ukraine and Ukraine only decides when enough is enough.

What would you suggest? Another Versailles treaty?

Goodluck finding just one politician or western policy maker who was held responsible.
Seriously, I challenge you, just one.
Europe has been warned by Russia in 2014, and 2022 and by Trump in 2017 but still nothing happened to be prepared 🤬
Just increase your defense budget, start a war economy and start building weapons and an army 🤷🏻♀️

What part about it was "all disinformation"?
You people have been pretending for years now that they are broke, that their economy has crashed 50 times already...
I dont think you have thought about this at all, until a minute ago.

Lmao... right. How honorable. Working with Nazi's.

🇫🇷 French Troops in Ukraine!
Side by side with 🇬🇧 British Troops!
Stop talking! Real action now!
Stop the fake theater!

Trump: not trustworthy.
He will not hinder him taking over Ukraine later. This is true love between 2 dictators.
